Pause Ponder and Pipsqueak Pint Swillers

Welcome to the results post of our quasquicentennial Pause Ponder and Pun pic.

Yeah, that's right.

Quasquicentennial (trying saying that five times fast) means 125. That means we've been posting weird and wonderful pics for you to caption for 125 weeks. That's roughly 2 and a quarter years. Imagine that!

You guys have never disappointed. Every week, no matter how silly the picture, you folks come through with the most imaginative captions on the interwebs. And this week is no different.

After a tough day of potty training, it's always good to kick back and relax with a cold one.

"Hmm. I wonder what we'll look like after our quasquicentennial beer."

"What is this swill? I asked for micro-brew."

Our winner took a somewhat quirky approach to this week's pic with the following caption:

Kanye and Kim Kardashian: the early years.

"Quirky" get it? Ha, ha, Quirky took a quirky approach. Who woulda thunk? Quirks, my dear, you be hangin' with your pal dufus! Okay! Congratulations.

We can get together and swap cancer tales. Nah, that'd be too boring. How about I get the whole set of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and we can do a little marathon reality TV watching?

Maybe cancer tales might be more exciting, eh?

Anyway, congrats to Miss Quirks and thanks to everyone else for dropping by and playing this week. See you Wednesday for the next edition of Pause Ponder and Pun.

Wow. I am honoured (the "u" is for for YOU HA!). I thought maybe, maybe, MAYBE an honorable mention.

So thank thee kind sir!

Thankee!

Cancer stories? Ugh. But I will say this: my cancer is better than yours.

HA!

Just like Moms with their kids. heh heh

Hey, neighbo(u)r you're welcome. Well done!

Oh, and your cancer's so stupid it stayed in the grocery store for one day looking at a can of orange juice just because it said concentrate.

16 million cheers to Quirky! When I saw hers, I knew I was way out of my league. (While I think I know what a Kardashian is, I've never read or watched anything long enough to be sure.) Thanks again for the pity shout-out. I'm going to keep trying because, dammit, I'm no quitter and I want one of those badges.

When I saw your caption, I knew it was futile to even try. So I did.

I bow to your wit. And cringe at the fact that you actually know what in hell a Kardashian is. Please tell me you aren't a pop-culturist. Please?

If you need info on the Kardashians you may be interested in tho post I wrote a while back... http://nonamedufus.blogspot.ca/2010/12/if-i-had-kim-kardashians-ass.html

Just keep telling yourself "I think I can pun, I think I can pun".

No wonder I didn't quite know what she was ~ reality TV. Never watch it or read anything about it. I prefer my fiction to be more realistic.

Dufus, here's the deal on puns. My best friend's dad was a the king of puns. I spent more time at her place than mine for years. I spent 13 years groaning and rolling my eyes until his way-too-young death in 1979. During those years we all learned not to pun because it would just get him started. That lesson stuck. Not a bad thing since I have a brother who's prone to dropping puns into almost every conversation. I'm pun-free so if I ever come up with a worthy caption it's unlikely include a pun.

I'm with you on reality TV. I only know about the Kardashians from what I see on the interwebs. And that's more than I want to know.

King of Puns. Wasn't that an Al Yankovic song? Just kidding.

When I see anything involving high drama that's surreal, I don't even look anymore. If I don't look, maybe it isn't really there.

I can't look. Just what is so entertaining about a train wreck?

Sunday Funnies

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
