What Does One Say?

I really have no idea how to begin this post. I've been staring at a blank screen with many thoughts swirling in my mind about someone I knew as Nicky F. Nicky was a blogger from Montreal who I first met through an on-line humour bloggers site. She was hilarious and we would often exchange barbs - all in good fun of course - in contests of who could top whom. Funny how many words we exchanged in the name of humour and now at her passing I struggle to find the right words. You know that term "work wife", someone of the opposite sex you work with closely. Well I'd like to think of Nicky as my blogging wife (sorry Ziva Moon). Funny how you can feel so close to someone without actually meeting them but her writing and commenting just made you feel like her best friend. So this relationship went on for some years until it evolved into a Facebook friendship. She blogged less end less but kept up her acerbic comments on Facebook - comments you absolutely had to respon...

What the Hell Is #Lostmyliverpalooza?

"This party's gone to the dogs." I started posting about it 15 days before it arrived and Facebook friends kept asking me that question. It was just a smart-alecky name we chose to refer to a gathering of several bloggers. Now, sadly, #lostmyliverpalooza has come and gone and with it the exits of Cheryl Duford and husband Rick, Paula Larew Wooters and my brother Whitey. "Lost my liver" quickly turned to "lost my liquor" as hardly any alcohol was imbibed but Paula from Rochester, Cheryl from Portsmith and Dufus from Aylmer, Quebec - not to mention outliers Whitey, Rick and Maryse - had a wonderful several days, despite the temperature dropping and it raining every day. But we all bundled up and sat out on the front porch so Cheryl could indulge in her little weakness - smoking. We la...

My Finny Valentine

There I was yesterday patiently waiting by the mailbox for Indigo Roth to send me my "I Survived 30 Minus 2 Days of Writing" challenge T-shirt. It didn't arrive. But what did arrive was a candy care package from that wicked Finnish wench Ziva. That's right. I got a surprise in the mail all the way from the distant shores of Finland. I guess she wanted to send me a Valentine's present. Who knew Valentine's in Finland was March 12th? Ah, well, better late than never. You'll recall I poked fun at Ziva and Nicky and their imaginary(?) up close and personal relationship during said challenge here and here . Well it seems Ziva really got off on those posts...in a manner of speaking...and sent me a little gift to show her appreciation. Three little gifts actually. I have a little box of Leijona. A bag of Salmiakki. And another bag containing Tyrkisk Peber - The Original. Who knew there were imitations? Of course I'm not the first to receive such ...
