Pull Over

A traffic cop pulled alongside a speeding car on the motorway.

Glancing into the car, he was astounded to see that the young lady, who was driving, was knitting.

Realising that she was oblivious to his flashing lights and siren, the policeman wound down his window, turned on his loudspeaker and yelled, 'PULL OVER!'

'NO', the young lady yelled back, 'IT's A SCARF!'

There weren't any speeding cars where I was on the weekend. In fact they were all pulled over. My lovely wife tore me away from the computer Saturday afternoon and off we went to the annual Aylmer Auto Show at nearby Parc Des Cedres, bordering the Ottawa River. It was a gorgeous day, for a change, after having endured the wettest July on record. It was warm and sunny and there were lots of great vintage cars just waiting to have their pictures taken. And I mean vintage: some of these cars were actually older than I am! Not many, mind you...but some.

beautiful cars! Did you forgive your wife for making you rip the internet IV out of your arm to go?

I am glad you had a great time. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Those are awesome cars..it's really fun to take a trip down nostalgia lane once in a while, even if you do have to leave the computer at home ;)

Funny joke Noname!

Love the pics! Great cars! Forgive my ignorance but is that a wavy music staff on the rear of that one car?

Major coolage!

WT: Yes, there are actually benefits to tearing one's self away from the computer screen from time to time.

Quirk: Good eye - nice detailing, eh? Glad you enjoyed the joke and the jalopies.

I love those car shows. We had a 'vette, Corvette not Chevette, show here a while back. The show was taking place between a biker bar and another big bar. What more could you want? Loved it.

dizzblnd: Oh yeah, you know it.

Don: Hey car shows are great. It's neat to see the work some of the owners put into these autos.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
