Where's Quirky?!

One of my favourite bloggers has disappeared.  She left an ominous note on her blog March 17th saying she needed a break and she hasn't been seen or heard from since.  I'm worried.  Quirks is one of my favourite bloggers.  We visit each other every day.  And now...Quirky appears to have been the latest blogger to simply up and stop blogging.

Quirks is very funny and so I miss my daily chuckle.  I love her penchant for Zombies.  And I think it's cool that she often parodies songs.  So, Quirks, if you're out there, this tune's for you.  Remember "Patches" by Lee Dickie in the early 60s?  You can run the video while you're singing the updated lyrics...

Down by the website that glows on the interwebs
Stands "Quirkyloon" with posts taken down
There lives a girl everybody calls Quirky
Quirky my darling of Old Humour town

We plan to comment when she brought the funny
I couldn't wait to fill Quirky with pride
Now I don't see how that ever can happen
She's gone I know, and my heart breaks inside

Quirky oh what can I do
I swear I'll always love you
But a girl who's misplaced will not bring me her grace
So my search won't let me find you

Each night I cry as I think of that blogger
And pretty Quirky her zombies adores

She doesn't know that I've tried hard to see her
Quirky must think that I love her no more

I see a blogger leaving a comment
He said a girl name of Quirky was found
Laying face down on that dirty info highway
That runs by the blogs of Old Humour town

Quirky oh what can I do
I swear I'll always love you
It may not be right to parody songs tonight
Quirky I'm copying you.

Come back soon, Quirks!

Quirky?

I had to click through to the song as the "Patches" I'm familiar with
starts: "My pappy was a great old man, I can see him with a shovel in his hand."

has a hook that goes something like,

"Patches, I'm depending on you son,
To Pull the family through..."

Anyway, so much for my poor remembrance of lyrics.

Once in while a blogger I read will just up and quit and, lately, a lot of them I visit have stopped posting as regularly as they used to. When they go I always miss them more than I'd have expected.

Awwwwww, I miss my Quirky-girl too. But, there are those times we, as bloggers, must take a break. She'll be back, I'm sure of it.

Canadian Blend: Wrong Patches.

Yeah, I agree. I guess you get used to somebody and then when they take some time off you realize you really, really enjoyed their blog. I hope she's back soon.

Me-Me: Sniff. I hope so.

I miss her too. I lurked a lot, not commenting, just laughing. Her last blog post cracked me up and I did leave a comment, then the next day, she was gone. I hope it wasn't something I said. (I'm sure it was just coincidence.) She will be back.

Leeuna: Coincidence, sure.
I've been worrying about Quirky, too! Where has she gone? Is she all right? Perhaps we should jump on a plane to Mesa and look for her.

OMG! I wonder if they ran out of DDP in Mesa? That would definitely be cause for her to go on an extended leave!

Hurry back, Quirkster... we miss you!

CL: Or maybe she's gone on a Diet Dr Pepper binge. I'd take a rest too if I had to cope with all that gas!

Correctly your article helped me very much in my college assignment. Hats off to you send, will look forward in the direction of more related articles in a jiffy as its one of my pet topic to read.

I, too, miss my daily dose of Quirkdom. She always gave me such lovely acid flashbacks.

Anon: That's a very odd college assignment.

Jayne: Acid flashbacks or acid reflux?

I don't know where she went or what her intentions were for leaving. Somethings are better just left alone and to speculation.
Hopefully, she'll reappear soon. Another case of blogger brain perhaps. It can be a killer.
nonamedufus said…
Don: I hope her blogger brain is only temporary.

I have been missing Quirky, too....
Come back, Quirky, come back!

Phillipia: I think it's unanimous!

The song was better than the original. Great job on it. And we're all beating around the bush, but I have a panicky feeling about the recent dearth of Quirkiness in our lives... could it be due to... ZOMBIES?!
My guess is that Quirky is taking a break--as in spring break, because her boys are at home and when boys are at home they won't let you do anything but feed them. Just a guess, though. I hope it's nothing more ominous than that.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
