Did He Wish He Was An Oscar Mayer Wiener?

There was an odd story out of Danvers Massachusetts last week about a guy you might say threw himself into his work.
A cleaning man had to be rescued after he was sucked into a machine at a sausage making company.  The guy was cleaning the vacuum-type machine that is used to season meat.  Now isn’t that odd?  Shouldn’t the machine work the other way.  How can it season the meat if it sucks.  Wouldn’t it work better if it blew the seasoning onto the meat.  Oh, well.  I don’t pretend to know the inner workings of a sausage-making factory any more than I know the inner contents of a sausage.

Stop showing off!
Local police reported the guy’s head and shoulders got stuck in the machine after it somehow turned itself on while being cleaned.  Man, that’s some vacuum.  It’d give Dyson a run for it’s money.
You know, I’d say the incident gives new meaning to getting “sucked in” – as well as to “seasoned worker”.
Reminds me of the story of the guy who worked at a meat factory and accidentally backed into the meat grinder.  Yeah, he got a little behind in his work!

Your post brings to the surface the old argument of "suck versus blow". I mean, who in the world ever named the blow job? :)

Ick and eek!

I just hope I didn't buy any sausage "on sale" that week.

Oscar Meyer can't hold a candle to this guy! Talking about getting immersed in your job!

Chris: That must have been just the way it was for this guy. Yikes.

Don: Yeah, but some days work can be a real "grind". Ya know?

"Oh, the groan, the groan...".

Punny stuff dufus!

I guess he quit his job because it just sucked.

Maybe the reporter got it wrong here, and the machine doesn't really suck. But since he heard the worker say "this machine sucks!" he is now serving us with an erroneous mental image about a machine that works the wrong way around...?

"Suck honey, don't blow; it's only an expression." Did I say that out loud?

Ok, that guy's sausage looks like a really icky snake. I hate snakes. And I don't want to know what sausage is made of.

RA: You may have something there. So the machine sucks, not the job?
nonamedufus said…
Kelly: A sentence that starts with "That guy's sausage..." just isn't going to ever end well.
Now, there's a Darwin award in the making....

CL: Yeah but he lived. So much for the award. Maybe next time.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy! ...

Hello Goodbye

Today a bit of a reflective piece. Rather than being funny, this is  about the funny. It's a day of mixed emotion at nonamedufus . You see, after several months of inactivity I've dropped a couple of former blogger buddies off my blog roll. I kept hanging on and hanging on hoping they'd return to active blogging but, alas, after waiting in one case five months I've decided to let them go. I'm going to miss - going to? I have been missing - Margo at the Screaming Me-Me . She was one funny lady. From time to time she and I would engage in a feud or two for several days at a time but it was all in fun both for us and, I think, for our readers. And we'd leave each other funny comments, poking fun at each other. I miss her friendship and our humorous exchanges. The other blogger I'm letting go is Chelle, The Offended Blogger . Chelle was a special lady. In addition to her own blog she created and managed Humor Bloggers Dot Com where humour bloggers like m...

The Dangling Conversation

There's a debate underway in my household between my wife and I. I say "underway" because it hasn't quite reached the "raging" stage. If you want raging, my wife (a Francophone) and I (an Anglophone) from time to time (usually in a weak moment of my own making) slip into our number one discussion around why we don't speak more French at home - ergo - when am I, a former public servant who learned French at the expense of our gracious taxpayers and was technically rated bilingual (even though I hardly used it), going to improve my use of Canada's other language? This one never gets resolved, hence it's ongoing nature. But the current debate is over a remark I casually made the other day. I'm no geek, but with a lot of time on my hands I surf the web, converse on Facebook and such and - I have to admit - "I'm nonamedufus and I'm a Twitterholic". In an epiphany-like moment I was struck by the apparent impact of social networkin...
