A Christmas Song

The topic from the folks at Theme Thursday this week is "snow". Now perhaps the most common take on this theme is Jingle Bells because of the line "Dashing through the snow". Well, we're about as far as you can get from common at nonamedufus. So here's an uncommon take...

GOING ROGUE

Dashing through the states
In a Gulfstream private jet
O'er the bookstores we go
Laughing at the stupid gets
Bucks them Billy-Bobs bring
To buy my silly book
What fun it is to laugh and sing
"Gotchya media's mistook"

The button-down mind of Sarah Palin

Going Rogue, Going Rogue
Going to grab power
Oh, what fun it is to ride
Going Rogue, Going Rogue
They think I'm travelling by bus
Oh, what fun it is to fool
The people of the continental US

It's a bus, plane and simple

A month or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Todd was outta here
And the governership I'd let slide
My book is a best seller
People gush - gosh, darn, heck
McCain can hoot and holler
But I love that slick Glenn Beck

Todd, can you see Russia from here? Bye!

Going Rogue, Going Rogue
Going to grab power
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a Gulfstream at $14k an hour
Going Rogue, Going Rogue
They think I'm travelling by bus
Oh, what fun it is to fool
The people of the continental US, yeah!*

Are Canadians allowed to pick on Sarah?

LOL. Just remember: You're between Alaska and the Lower 48... You're surrounded!

Moooooog: Laughing all the way.

John: Of course. I do it about once a week.

Fun piece, but can we retire any and all mention of this chick with the end of 2009?

who said she's hot?! Ok, compared to Howard Taft, for sure.
nonamedufus said…
Tom: Not me. I never said she was hot. Afraid I've got some misguided friends.

If her book is written anything like she speaks, I'd rather be stranded in a snowstorm - forever.

Ha ha, great new version of an old song! Me likes!

Angel May: You know when asked she said she couldn't comment on the Kyoto Accord as she'd only ever seen the Honda.

Dot-Com: I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Palin's hot? I think Moooog needs a new fantasy. Speaking of poems, my captcha word is "valinga." That sounds dirty, like most of what Palin and Glenn Beck have to say.

Nice poem, NoName.

Mike" Valinga all the way, hey!

The thing I like best about Christmas music is that it's only popular for a month before people get SO SICK of it they can't stand to hear anymore. With luck, any mention of Going Rogue will be crammed in the proverbial attic come January.
nonamedufus said…
WordWire: With any luck, indeed! But I think, unfortunately, this is just a practice run for 2012 and we'll have to put up with her for some time yet - sigh.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
