30 Days of Photos - Day 8 - Texture

Two eggs over-easy with sausage, rye toast, coffee and a large orange juice. Once a week or so I'll make the trek to the neighbourhood restaurant, Dinty's, for breakfast. This is usually what I'll have.

I'll carry along my iPad and read the latest e-book I'm into. When I took this picture last week it was MaddAddam by Margaret Atwood.

I switch it up once and awhile and have an omelette or eggs benedict but I'm such a regular the waitress whose section I always sit in brings me my coffee and large orange juice without even asking.

Look at the texture of the items on that plate, the eggs in particular.

It almost looks too good to eat.

But I did.

Don't forget to drop by Ziva's infernal blog to hook up with the rest of the insane people taking part in this challenge. Texture? Really?

Damn it all! Now I'm hungry and there's nobody around to fix me breakfast. You have a lot to answer for, Dufus!

That looks so yummy. Now I have to go cook myself breakfast. Commenting on the rest of the 30 Days photos can wait!

I'll save you a spot at Dinty's, Boom Boom.

That looks delicious, even if I'm not a fried breakfast person. Well, maybe once or twice a year I'll have one and I'm not yoking.
Great! I'll be there in about 5 hours. You will wait for me, won't you?
nonamedufus said…
Oh, absolutely. 5 hours? I might be able to get in a golf game while I'm waiting.
nonamedufus said…
It is delicious. I hope you don't find my breakfast habits rash.
babs (beetle) said…
Not at all and I shell say that they make me want a full English ;)
Agent 54 said…
Very nice. Lots of different textures there. I might dip the sausage in the egg yoke.
Cheryl said…
Yes, it does look almost too pretty to eat but dammit man, I'm starving. Please pass the salt.
ReformingGeek said…
Haha! No way is that too good to eat. It looks delicious. Nice job! Oh, you might want to check a mirror. You've got a bit of texture, er, egg, on your cheek.
nonamedufus said…
I don't know what a full English is but it sounds kinda naughty.
nonamedufus said…
I usually dip the rye toast in the egg or to be precise place a piece of drippy egg on a bite-size piece of toast. I know. I'm weird like that. It's why I eat alone.
nonamedufus said…
Uh-uh, no salt for me, Cheryl. Although having gone this far with my cholesterol levels a little salt may not make much difference.
babs (beetle) said…
Ha ha ha! It's Eggs, bacon, sausages, fried tomatoes and fried bread. Some add baked beans or fried potatoes too.
Cheryl said…
Don't tell me your cholesterol is sky high too? John is there anything that doesn't ail you? (BTW, I wasn't suggesting you should have salt, I wanted it and I have no limitations of my salt intake.)
Lauren said…
A perfect breakfast and wonderful way to enjoy it. Now I'm starving.
nonamedufus said…
I thought it was some humungous plate of cholesterol. Yum.
nonamedufus said…
Let's see. Cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, yadda, yadda, yadda.
nonamedufus said…
Damn, happens all the time. With a beard I often enjoy breakfast all morning long.
nonamedufus said…
I love them but this looks far more appetizing than a Sausage & Egg McMuffin.
meleahrebeccah said…
And now I'm starving!
Cheryl said…
Oh sure, play the cancer card right up front with a big ol' capital letter. Not many of us can compete with that shit. I can, however, compete with yadda, yadda, yadda. I've got more of that going on than anything else.
nonamedufus said…
It does look inviting, doesn't it? I look forward to this every week.
nonamedufus said…
Actually, the cancer's under control these days. What with all the drugs I'm on I would hope so.
babs (beetle) said…
Now you know why I only have it once a year :)
Debra She Who Seeks said…
Did you have a hangover from all the beer on Day 7, LOL? A hearty breakfast could cure that!
nonamedufus said…
Ha, can't put anything past you.
meleahrebeccah said…
Very inviting indeed.
nonamedufus said…
You know what I love with breakfast? Pea meal or back bacon. My favourite.
Cheryl said…
That is fantastic news, John!

Now I need to get my back issues under control so I can get up to see you & Maryse.
babs (beetle) said…
Back bacon it the only one I eat, but what's pea meal?
nonamedufus said…
The two are very similar, but according to Wkipedia re: pea meal bacon: The name reflects the historic practice of rolling the bacon in ground dried yellow peas, although nowadays, it is generally rolled in yellow cornmeal.
Ziva said…
Oh yum! The eggs truly look perfect. And a million times better than the oatmeal I had for breakfast today.
nonamedufus said…
Probably not as healthy as your oatmeal, though. And I bet your oatmeal had lots of texture!
mike said…
What, no cheese?
Nicky said…
That looks delicious except it's missing some cheese. :-)

Hah! Great minds!!

Yum, looks good.

When I make my own breakfast I use cheese. Eggs over easy and bacon and cheese on an English Muffin. Looks like this... It's the Dufus Special and it's delish.
nonamedufus said…
And I ate everything on the plate...except the fruit.
Hmmmm do you dip your potatoes in the runny egg? I have tried all my life to like runny eggs but just can't. They look SO good, but something about them... I just can't handle them. If you put that sucker "over hard" I would be all about it!
mikewjattoomanymornings said…
Oh no, it doesn't look too good to eat. It looks like it must be eaten. What a great idea for a photo, NoName. Your creativity is showing.
mikewjattoomanymornings said…
That looks positively unhealthy. I want you to make me breakfast.
nonamedufus said…
It's a picture. It's a breakfast. Stop. You're both right. This challenge is really tough when you have to go out for a great breakfast just to portray a prompt.
nonamedufus said…
I dip everything into that runny egg. I like any kind of eggs, but over-easy is my favourite. A close second would be Eggs Benedict.
nonamedufus said…
Next time you're nearby I'll do it.
Traci Shannon said…
It looks like very delicious textures.

The most delicious, believe me.

Yum! Let me know next time you are going and I will tag along. Will they put some tequila in that orange juice and make a tequila sunrise? If not, don't worry. I will slip a flask down my cowboy boot.
nonamedufus said…
I'm going Friday. If you start out now you might be able to meet me there. Oh, and tequila? No. Mimosas? Love 'em.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
