30 Days of Photos - Day 3 - Soft

Caught in a breezeless pause
I stand erect, and quite soft

There's a noise that gets louder
And it's not that far off

Damn, it's the lawnmower passing by
And I'm scattered to the skies, aloft

Dritt on over to Ziva's blog to see how soft everyone else is today.

You know, there are pills you can take for that simultaneous erect/soft issue you're having... there's nothing to help you with the lawnmower shredding you problem, though.

Pfffft.... gone, but not forgotten.

I'm a man of contrasts, I am. You know how difficult it is to manscape with a lawnmower?
nonamedufus said…
Unfortunately I'll be back tomorrow with another pic, Babs.

Just a head's up that I had trouble with the link from Ziva's site. Maybe it was just me though.

Did you write that poem?

Such a great example of soft but those little seedlings are just so unwelcome.

Your link was all sad and broken over on my blog, but I fixed it for you. Do I get a cookie now, oh talented dufus poet?

Great take on the theme, softie.

That first stanza made think this was going to be an ode to Viagra. But then it turned into a bittersweet poem about dandelions. I'm tearing up here a little.

I use a teeny-tiny lawnmower.

I took that picture (It's not a cat!) and I wrote that poem. (Not about a cat!)
nonamedufus said…
Oh, yeah they blow everywhere and multiply like crazy.
nonamedufus said…
Thanks, Meleah. I think I may have graduated from #team lame to #team somewhat lame.
nonamedufus said…
They're the only ones I know what to do with. Ride over them with the lawn tractor.
nonamedufus said…
That's kinda odd. Thanks for the fix. Want some dandelion wine?
nonamedufus said…
Yeah, you and Nicky must have been comparing notes this morning. The tearing up's probably just hay fever.
nonamedufus said…
Not sure about next week, though. I need to take some pictures.
nonamedufus said…
And I bet you do this in the john, dear.
Ziva said…
Only if you'll have some with me.

I hate dandelions but love your shot. Your poem kind of makes me feel bad for them.
ReformingGeek said…
Yeah, I almost felt sorry for it. Very clever. Achoo!
nonamedufus said…
You're on. Now I have to figure out how to make it.
nonamedufus said…
You might say that poem is my dandelion whine.
nonamedufus said…
Thanks Ref. If I can make it, will you be partaking in our dandelion wine-tasting?
Ziva said…
You try it first...
nonamedufus said…
OK, when I work up the courage I'll let you know.

What a beautiful piece of poetry.
nonamedufus said…
Oh, I have many talents I don't talk about.
Jackal said…
Fun piece - brought a smile to my face.
nonamedufus said…
Then my work here is done. For today.

In some places, dandelions are a delicacy, just not in my yard.
I am grinning ear to ear... love the picture and LOVED the poetry!

What a dandy poem.

It happens at our age, doesn't it, Dufus? Standing erect and quite soft. I'm sorry. Try some Viagra fertilizer.
Cheryl said…
Don't be coy. This is one talent that should not be hidden under a bushel basket. (Dear gawd, it's only day 4 and my brain has already turned to mush.)
nonamedufus said…
And in other places they have dandy lions.
nonamedufus said…
I was inspired when I was cutting the lawn. Or close to expired. Can't remember which right now.
nonamedufus said…
Ah-ha. I got it, Shawn. Clever comment.
nonamedufus said…
I'm not going there.
nonamedufus said…
What is a bushel anyway? I'd like to see that as a prompt.

They'll get you every time.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
