30 Days of Photos - Day 11 - Girly

Girly? Really? What do I know about girly?

And why are people always putting girls down?

They say "Oh, they throw like a girl."

So, what's wrong with throwing like a girl?

Ever seen girls' softball?

I actually love girls.

And I'm married to the best girl in the world.

Who do you think designed this shot?

Not bad eh?

Speaking of girls, hit on Ziva and see what photos folks are pitching today.

Real nice photo. Compliments to your art director.

The "girl" you married has excellent taste! I'd say it's tough being a woman since we're what the common collected relates to weakness BUT we get to wear better shoes than men so I think we win. Besides, anyone who actually believes that a woman is weak simply because she was born without male anatomy is an idiot.

I wonder why a lot of men think women are weak. We are stronger than men in some areas and men are stronger in others. That's why we need each other.

Just look at that photo arrangement. Very girlie.
nonamedufus said…
Oh, she's the best. And very girly.
Your girl is fabulous!
nonamedufus said…
Hey, who says woman wear better shoes? Some men(?) wear those shoes. Not me, though.
nonamedufus said…
I don't think women are weak. I agree with you totally, Babs. I guess you'd say what could make me feel this way? My girl!
nonamedufus said…
Oh yes she certainly is. Thank you.
babs (beetle) said…
That always comes across loud and clear with you :)

I'm fond of girls too and I could never hit one of those fast pitch Softballers. Very girly pic.

That's just wrong.

What a lovely job of putting together a girly shot, Mrs. Dufus. I love it when you talk about how much you love your wife, dufus. All men should praise their wives and all women should have a husband that appreciate them.

You know, as pretty as it is, I would've loved to see you wear all of this.

She did well by you!

I love the art-directed photo. The modeling shot is lovely too, but it just doesn't say "girly" the way the first one does.
ReformingGeek said…
That's a log of girly red. Yes, we would love to see you model the goods. "Dude looks like a lady!"
nonamedufus said…
Well, thank you, Babs.
nonamedufus said…
Yeah, I think I'd strike out. ( little pun, there)
nonamedufus said…
She's the best, believe me.
nonamedufus said…
I'm not gonna go there. And besides, the shoes are too small. I've tried.
nonamedufus said…
No it really doesn't, does it. I agree.
nonamedufus said…
Sorry, I'm not sharing any photos of that!
Cheryl said…
::sigh:: You married a wonderful woman. I don't think it's legal for adults to marry girls, even in Canada. ::sigh::
nonamedufus said…
Yes, I did. And I realize it more and more every day. (Too much?)

And as for marrying girls, even to this day Jerry Lee Lewis marrying his 13 year old cousin all those many years ago still gives me the creeps.
Cheryl said…
Oh, by the way, Maryse did a beautiful job setting up that shot of some of her feminine accessories. I'll bet she looks gorgeous in red.
Nicky said…
Sure, mon ami... *Mrs. Dufus* put that all together. Of course. :-)
I love all the rich reds... very dramatic and feminine.
Tami Von Zalez said…
Rowr Red - that's not girly, that's temptress ...
Lauren said…
Do you have trouble walking in those heals? I love the all the reds, too.
Jackal said…
or is it Lady in Red?
Jackal said…
Pretty in red !
You ARE married to the best girl in the world! Period! Enough said!
nonamedufus said…
She looks good in anything. Or out of anything. (Oh, I think I went too far.)
nonamedufus said…
It's true. Sure I have a sensitive, feminine side but she's the expert.
nonamedufus said…
Yes, I do. They don't fit me properly.
nonamedufus said…
Yes I am. And since you've met her you should know.
Cheryl said…
Holy shit! I completely missed this. He's gorgeous. I want to ask him where he found heels big enough for his feet. Or not. His feet might be tiny and with those shoulders, that would be oh so wrong.
Cheryl said…
Thank you for joining me in letting some of these folks know that girls are not women and girly is about children, not adults.
Cheryl said…
I think that's for Maryse to decide. If Rick said this, I'd appreciate it if I knew he was sincere.

As for Jerry Lee, it should creep us all out forever. Now get your language straight. Don't make me come up there just to kick your butt.
Cheryl said…
I knew you were going to say she looks good in anything. I'm a little surprised you went to naked, but hell, you live with her and if you leave now, you can be at the border before she even gets home.

With her coloring, I think she'd look gorgeous in red. I also think you'd look great in red. The dress, not so much.
Cheryl said…
Et tu, Paula? WOMAN, dammit! Trying to retrain you folks to use the language correctly is a daunting task. ::sigh::
I know, I know... I was just using Dufus's phrasing...
Cheryl said…
Which I berated him for and he either chose to ignore or missed the point. I also know you know which is why I didn't squash you like a bug, but choose to go the long-suffering route. :D
nonamedufus said…
Maybe I should use the French phrasing: femme fatale?
nonamedufus said…
I'm with you on the dress.
nonamedufus said…
Oh, I'm sincere. I don't know how that "woman" puts up with me day after day.
nonamedufus said…
A little heavy for my tastes.
mikewjattoomanymornings said…
You outdid yourself on this one, NoName. That's a very romantic, even sexy, photo. Nice work.
mikewjattoomanymornings said…
You're on Maryse's dress with Cheryl? That seems doubly insulting.
mikewjattoomanymornings said…
Don't be such a girl. She's lucky to have you.
mikewjattoomanymornings said…
Women seem to be stronger than men in almost every way. Maybe not always physically, I guess.
mikewjattoomanymornings said…
I prefer my cross dressers beardless, but that's just my personal taste.
nonamedufus said…
Thanks, Mike. I had help.
mike said…
Nice arrangement. AND everything appears to match
nonamedufus said…
But of course. (Remember that old joke "your breath and my socks"? But I won't go there.)
Nora Blithe said…
That's always been my take. I don't mind calling super cute shoes girly though. There's something playful about that approach that seems fun to me.
Cheryl said…
I might even buy into that if I ever had occasion to wear really cute shoes. Never been able to in my life so it's outside of my personal experience. Most of my friends like nice clothing and shoes but it's barely on their radar when it comes to topics of discussion. Oddly enough, I have a close friend who's been in women's retail most of her career and she doesn't even use the term girly, not even about her addiction-level collection of cute shoes. ;-)

Sunday Funnies

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
