30 Days of Photos - Day 10 - Close Up

Do you know what type of plant this is?

It's a variegated something or other.

It was in the front garden.

And it's a close up.

(Not of a cat.)

Skip on over to Ziva's where she's still big; it's the pictures that got small.

I don't know what type of plant that is but it's pretty. You'll be relieved to know that there's no cat on my blog again today! :)

I know exactly what type of plant this is, Nora and it's just for you. It's a variegated Dogwood!
Cheryl said…
It's very pretty for not being a cat.

(I haven't seen that many cats this time around. What's up with you and cats? Are you a hater? That doesn't sound like you at all.)

I just KNEW it was a variegated something or other!

I'm not a big fan of cats. I'm left alone all day at home with our cat and it's always playing tricks on me. Then, Mayse gets home from work and the cat's so well behaved.
nonamedufus said…
Dogwood. We have a few of them in the garden. I think they're neat.

Don't know what I'm looking at but, it is interesting. Is it Arugula?
ReformingGeek said…
Some sort of caladium? Whatever it is, Cat would probably eat it.

I bet your front garden is beautiful!
nonamedufus said…
I don't think so. Are you reading the previous comments 54?
nonamedufus said…
I doubt your cat would eat a Dogwood, Ref.
nonamedufus said…
You were right! What was your first clue?
meleahrebeccah said…
I have NO IDEA what kind of plant that is! But it sure is pretty!
nonamedufus said…
Professional gardeners, of which I'm not call it a Cornus alba 'Elegantissima'.
nonamedufus said…
Hey, this is a full service blog. Let me know if you ever use cornus alba elegantissima in a sentence, okay?
Lauren said…
It kind of looks like an iguana hiding beneath it. I've got stop having Cheerios and vodka for breakfast.
Ziva said…
Definitely a plant. Or maybe a cat. No, a plant. I'm almost sure.
Cheryl P. said…
I am at the same level as you about identifying plants...yep, it's variegated. Great picture of a plant, though.
nonamedufus said…
Sounds like a great way to start the day. Or finish the day!
nonamedufus said…
Aw, you had to say the c word.
nonamedufus said…
It's a hardy plant and low maintenance. You just have to leaf it alone and it grows like a weed. Wait. Is it a weed?
Nicky said…
I could have sworn it was a variegated thingamabob. Damn, I always get them mixed up!
mikewjattoomanymornings said…
Looks like pot to me, but I don't know much about plants. Everything looks like pot.
mikewjattoomanymornings said…
Congress?
mikewjattoomanymornings said…
Cheerios and vodka is the breakfast of champions.
Cheryl said…
Annnnnnnnnnnd I apologize. Dear gawd, these people and their cats just tipped me right over the edge. I really hadn't noticed that many until today. The dogs are gaining ground, too. Before this thing is over, I'm going to hate both. (I'm also a wee bit jealous because cats and dogs are great props & some of these prompts beg for props.)
nonamedufus said…
A thingamabob would fit this challenge quite nicely, don't you think?
nonamedufus said…
Yeah, a congress of cats.
nonamedufus said…
Nora started it. Damn her...and her damn cat!
MalisaHargrove said…
Ha ha ha!
MalisaHargrove said…
At least its not photos of butterflies and bugs. :)
MalisaHargrove said…
And I have started the influx of dogs. You are welcome.
MalisaHargrove said…
Dufus, were you "resting" on the ground when you took this photo? Might as well do something down there after you finished those seven Coronas!
nonamedufus said…
Yeah, I was. But it kinda bugged me.
nonamedufus said…
Oops, you were listening. Yes, go dogs!
nonamedufus said…
Uh-oh, are you two engaging in a cat fight?
nonamedufus said…
Speaking of bobs we should do 30 Days of Bob Dylan!
mike said…
All I can tell you about that plant is that it's green.
nonamedufus said…
Hey, it's not easy being green.
It would be a royal battle between you and MikeWJ!
Dogwood! So you DID include an animal today!
I think there's every shade of green imaginable in that photo. Well, maybe not a hideous lime green. That color only belongs in a Corona.
nonamedufus said…
The only colour green you can't see is me lying in the dirt after all those Coronas.
nonamedufus said…
Don't think twice, Paula, it's alright.
nonamedufus said…
How is your lovely little pup these days?
nonamedufus said…
Damn, yes I did. But not a cat.
He's sitting here all pissed off because he found out that Malisa gives her dog ice cream cones and he gets nothing good. Must be why he keeps trying to drink my adult beverages... has to drown his sorrows.
MalisaHargrove said…
Were you "in the weeds"?
Cheryl said…
Pffffffffffffffffffffffft.
Cheryl said…
Nope. Butterflies wings and dog tongues to the death.
Wow that is very beautiful. I am NOT a plant name know-er.... but I know I like the picture!
P.J. said…
I know nothing of plants, no matter if they are close or not. :)
Traci Shannon said…
It is a plant. I will trust that it was in your front yard. And it is definitely close-up. I can go with that . And oh yeah, not a cat!
:-D
Traci
nonamedufus said…
Thank you Katherine. I like this pic too.
nonamedufus said…
Aw, that's sad P.J. We need to get to the root of your problem I think.
nonamedufus said…
Exactly. Finally, someone understands me and my feelings towards felines.
nonamedufus said…
Um, I'll never tell.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
