In this instance the light at the end of the tunnel, while white, is not an approaching speeding train. This is the (in)famous Louis-Hippolyte Lafontaine Tunnel in Montreal (Hi Nicky and Mike!). On Easter weekend my wife and I were traveling from Victoriaville (which likes to think of itself as the poutine capital of the world) to Montreal (the roads and bridges under construction capital of the world). The bridge travels beneath the main shipping channel of the St. Lawrence River.
It's scary. Tiles have fallen off the tunnel walls. It's always dripping. I have visions of that movie 2012 with John Cusack every time I pass through it.
So in this case. the light at the end of the tunnel was the Island of Montreal. Where, by the way, you can't turn right on a red light.
Also, in this case, it's a good thing to go towards the light...which is white.
