Pause Ponder and Perfidy

Hey, no one picked up on my Neil Sedaka reference Wednesday. Don't you remember his 1962 #1 hit Breaking Up Is Hard To Do? I guess none of you were born then. Moving quickly along...

Man we had a lot of funny captions submitted this week. This had to be one of the toughest weeks yet for poor old dufus to choose a winner. You guys really brought your "A" game, for sure. Here are our honourable mentions...

A couple discusses all of Obama's great ideas.

Yuri Geller attempts to bend the spoon in Natasha's cup. If successful,
he will then attempt to bend Natasha to his will.

How am I going to tell her I'm dating her mother?

Tom desperately wanted to have sex with Julie.
But he couldn't remember his best lines.

But Linda over at The Good, The Bad, The Worse went in a whole different direction this week with her winning caption:

You caught it off a toilet seat?

Way to go Linda, you be hangin' with the dufus this week. Congratulations. Here's your own dufus badge. Wear it with pride.

Oh, Neil Sedaka may well have been singing about toilet seats...

Congrats to Linda! See, Linda? Punning up isn't hard to do after all!

And congrats to the honourable mentions!

dufus - I do remember both versions of "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" - I prefer the remake (slower) version of it though. I do like the original, but I don't think I've ever felt that upbeat about breaking up with someone.

00dozo: "Punning up isn't hard to doo..." We'll make a punster of you yet double 0. I wasn't really into Neil Sedaka. After all I was 10 in 62. The Beach Boys, the Four Seasons and Dion were kinda neat, though.

G: There were so many good captions it was hard to choose just one. And I used one of the simplest pics ever, too.

Quirks: Yeah, she leaves me a-gog from time to time.

Hey, somehow I missed this on Wednesday. Well, just darn! I couldn't have beat Linda anyway. That was the funniest caption ever!!! Congrats, Linda.

Leeuna: Yeah she blew the "lid" off this week's contest leaving everyone else a little "flushed".
Yay, Linda! And yes, I DO remember Neil Sedaka! I think I even remember all the words to that song.

Boom Boom: Yeah, me too. And I didn't even particularly like the song.
Oh, I got your Sedaka reference, all right. I just can't stand to think about that song, or any of his songs. Thanks for the honorable mention!

Mike: I know, I feel the same way about the guy...and his songs. But I saw that picture and it was the first thing that came to my mind. Maybe I should have gone with the second.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
