30 Days of Photos IV - Day 30 - Happily Ever After - Bonus

Yeah, yeah, 2 posts in one day. On some days it was hard enough just to come up with one. But this was what first hit me when I saw today's prompt, and I couldn't let it go because no one else did it.

This song and video are from 1967. Some of you may not even have been born then. The rest of you might enjoy this blast from the past. I dedicate this to all the participants. Because, for 30 days,  we were all so happy together.

Keep rockin' you guys.

LOL! I recently saw that clip. I think on PBS. I worked for Paul Atkinson from the band, The Zombies i the early 80s. I was a secretary in the A&R department of Columbia Records. What a fun time that was.

That is so cool, Lauren. What I would have done to trade places with you. I recently read Howard Kaylan's autobiography. Wild times.

Who is Howard Kaylan?

I was an old lady of 10 when that song came out. I remember it well!

I was an old man of 15.

He was one of the lead singers for the Turtles. The skinnier one. They went on to become the Florescent Leech and Eddie and, believe it or not, they sang with Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention.

I did, indeed, but I'm into that kind of thing. If you check out the books page on my blog you'll see I read something connected to the music industry every one and a while. Here's a review.

Thanks. It sounds interesting. Paul Atkinson told me that they had a terrible contract when he was in The Zombies. They made no money back then. Paul died years ago. He was such an incredibly nice guy.I had the pleasure of working with him for about two years.

The only one for me is you, Dufus. (Just don't tell M.) I absolutely love this song, and it's the perfect ending to Bob. So happy together, indeed.

I love this one especially because this is my parents' song. They have been married for almost 44 years and they are still goofy for this song!

That was the unfortunate case with groups from the 60s. They got screwed by either their managers or their record companies. Hey, my first slow dance was to The Zombies, but I can't remember the bame of the song.

You're making me feel old Traci.

It was good for me Ziva. Was it good for you? *blows out cigarette smoke*
What a great song to wake up to this morning! I used to love that one back in my teeny bopper days.

And I was a wrinkly at 21 :)

Oh what a happy blast from the past! This was 1967? I was so young then ha ha!

That is so sweet. I've got "Can't Remember Shit" disorder, too. Happens to us once we start shuffling down the hill.
nonamedufus said…
Okay I Googled and I think it was Tell Her No. And up here we call it CRAFT: Can't Remember A Fuckjn' Thing.
nonamedufus said…
Yeah, surprising the taste we had in music back then, eh? But it worked for the times.
nonamedufus said…
Yeah, many of us were a lot younger. That video's kind of kitschy too, don't you think?
nonamedufus said…
Wrinkly at 21? Babs you got a good start on middle age, then, didn't you?
Linda Medrano said…
OMG! I hadn't heard that for over 40 years!

Some things were a bit kitschy in the mid sixties :)
babs (beetle) said…
Ha ha! I refuse to be a wrinkly, though I'm not sure what good that does :)
nonamedufus said…
You're showing your age, Linda. I just read an autobiography by the lead singer and had to buy the Best of the Turtles. That, of course, was one of the songs, along with some Dylan numbers like It Ain't Me Babe.
nonamedufus said…
I don't thin it's something we have any control over, Babs.
Linda Medrano said…
I've never hidden my age! My son was born in 1967 when I was 21.
babs (beetle) said…
Nope and it's more important to be young at heart :)
nonamedufus said…
I never said you were hiding it. And you wear it well, my dear.
nonamedufus said…
Oh you bet. Although I find there a times the body can't keep up with what the heart wants to doQ
nonamedufus said…
And of course, at times the mind starts to forget!
Ziva said…
It was better than good, stud.
nonamedufus said…
Oh my! Here in Quebec I'm known as a deux par quatre (2x4).

Stop! You're depressing me now hahahaha!

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
