30 Days of Photos - Day 17 - My Junk

One man's junk is another man's recycled waste.

This post is pure and simple rubbish. Hustle on over to Ziva's place and see the garbage other photo-bloggers have come up with today.

Recycling bins. I get it.

You know, "my junk" has another connotation too. I was a bit leery of looking at the photo. Phew! Safe for work after all!

I had no idea what this was a photo of, until I read Agent 54's comment. We only have black and blue and they don't look like that.

Hmmmmmm --- what IS that?
meleahrebeccah said…
Oh!! Thanks for that comment! I had NO CLUE what these were!
nonamedufus said…
Aw, c'mon, you can trust me. I'm not a New York politician after all.

Blue is paper, cardboard, tin, glass, plastic, etc. Brown is food waste. Grey and Green are the rest of our garbage. It takes some getting used to.
nonamedufus said…
It's just an artsy(?) shot of my garbage bins, Meleah.
nonamedufus said…
Meleah, Meleah, Meleah. Focus, girl.
nonamedufus said…
Here they are in a normal shot.

Black is household waste, Blue is paper and we have a smaller box for plastic, glass and tin. Gardening waste has to be taken to the recycling place.
nonamedufus said…
Oh we have recyclable bags for garden waste that we can leave at the curb. Fascinating discussion here about our garbage, eh?

Ha ha ha! Well, it's nice to know how others deal with things, then I feel justified in moaning if we don't come up to scratch :)
meleahrebeccah said…
Oh!!! Yeah, I realized that after I saw the comment from Agent 54!

I don't think I'll be doing any bin diving here!

Nice idea for the photo.

Nice one, Dufus! Very artsy. I like it a lot. :)

I like the angle you used for the shot. At first I thought they were kayaks. I was searching for the identity of the items when I tilted my head a certain way and voila! Trash bins! Would it surprise you to know that they don't recycle here in East Texas? Heck no. They charge you extra if you do that. Sigh. But I'm moving soon. Yeah!
Lauren said…
Ah, recyclable bins. I recognize the blue one. It's also in my garage. Can you recycle a recyclable bin?
nonamedufus said…
Hey, our garbage is clean. What do you want?
nonamedufus said…
Yeah, even mu garbage is artsy.
nonamedufus said…
I've never tried to float in an of these things that would be novel. The closest I've come is when the garbage overflows.
nonamedufus said…
Yes, you can. The garbage guys knocked the crap out of the brown food recycle bin and we called city hall and they brought us a new one and took away the old one. How about that!

Good thing you have some sharp-eyed commenters. I didn't see it at first either.
Linda Medrano said…
We have that here! You'll feel right at home!
nonamedufus said…
I can see how others might wonder what the heck this was a picture of, although it's very familiar to me.
nonamedufus said…
Oh, should I bring my garbage?
Linda Medrano said…
Naw. I've got plenty here to share with you!
nonamedufus said…
Okay, great. Otherwise I might refuse to come. (Get it?)

Despite our tendency to trash talk, mon ami, I wanted to say you bin doing a great job during this challenge. :-)
That is actually a STUNNING picture. I love the angle and the colors... just perfect.
mike said…
Great pic, Dufus. The color coding is getting complicated, but the junk is being recycled into useful things. At least I think it is.
Traci Shannon said…
But neatly ordered and colorful rubbish bins, so points for that.

It worries me that I almost posted the same photo. Mine wasn't as good as yours, so I junked it.
nonamedufus said…
Well, thanks, Nicky. I appreciate it. But don't think that'll give you a pass on the trash talk. That's partly what this is all about.
nonamedufus said…
Thanks, there, Katherine. I tried several angles and went with that one.
nonamedufus said…
Well, at least it's going where it's supposed to and not into the ground.
nonamedufus said…
Thanks Traci. If nothing else my garbage is neat.
nonamedufus said…
I "refuse" to believe that, Mike.
nonamedufus said…
Oops, I already used that line with Linda. I can't seem to "contain" myself.
Wow! Even your dustbins are classy looking.
nonamedufus said…
Well, of course. We have pretty classy garbage. Have to keep up with the neighbours you know.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
