Dammit, Jim, I'm a Blogger Not a Photographer

So there I was sitting all alone on the couch (where else would I be) minding my own business when...

Wait, wait, that's not exactly true. I was making witty comments on some of my favourite blogs, and smart-ass ones on the others when all of a sudden I came across the latest post from Ziva @ Ziva's Infernal Inferno and Michael Whitman-Jones @ I Never Want To Get Up.Com. It was like stereo. Having invented the 30 Days of Photographes meme and invited other bloggers to share in the pain, er, shame, er, glory(?) this past April, these two sadists have set their mark (see what I did there? sadists/mark, marquis de sade) again for the month of October.

That's right ladies and gentlemen, October is 30 Days of Photographs III. Don't these people think we've already taken enough photos.

Shit.

Good thing I just charged up my iPhone/camera. And I've got the first week in the bag. Now there's a positive "development". I refuse to be "negative" about this. I will remain "focussed".  After all this exercise "lens" itself to my creative side.

Here's the crazy list Ziva and Mike came up with...

1. Shiny
2. Fast
3. Above my head
4. Sour
5. Lotion
6. Vibration
7. Craftsman
8. Hair
9. Rules
10. Stalker
11. Heavy
12. Five
13. Calm
14. Secret
15. My favorite food
16. Bullshit
17. Coins
18. Qwerty
19. Steel
20. Nails
21. Broken
22. Neutral
23. Underwater
24. M&M’s
25. Video
26. Heart
27. Kafkaesque
28. Autumn
29. The city
30. Blackout

The current state of my health prevents me from getting out and about much so my photos may be a little odd, all pretty much taken around the house. But, hey, I think you've come to expect odd from me, right?

You can get the deets on Photos III from either Mike or Ziva and during the competition Ziva will have a link where everyone can post their daily contribution.

You know with Ziva in Finland and Mike in Colorado, me in Canada and everybody else somewhere in between it's like we're bringing the globe closer together. Don't you just wanna break into I Want To Teach The World To Sing In Perfect Harmony?

Yeah, me either. Never did like Coke.

Tune in Monday for the first instalment.

You don't know what you'll be missing.

You've got the entire first week in the bag already? Man, I have some catching up to do. I have ONE photo. I'm looking forward to seeing what you and your trusty iPhone come up with. ;)

Be careful what you wish for.

Skankopotamus! I only have one I'm sure of & that prompt doesn't come around for almost 3 weeks. Do you know any bald guys whose head I can photograph for Day 1? (You're a real trooper, y'know? I shoot weird and powerful energy in a northwesterly direction on a daily basis. Hope you're catching it.)
nonamedufus said…
Oh, I'm catching it alright, thanks. And good luck finding that bald guy.

Hey Dufus! I am so tempted by this, but I am not renowned as a snapper. A fiddler, hacker, scribbler and poker, perhaps. Still. Indigo

Hey, you don't need talent Indigo. (Look at me.) You just need to find something to match the theme.

Same here! Same here! It's either HOME photos or all things medical! Because that's all I have to work with!
nonamedufus said…
Yeah, this will indeed be a challenge. I can only take so many photos of meds.
nonamedufus said…
Well, I don't know if I'd use the word "excited" exactly. We'll see.
meleahrebeccah said…
I am. It will be a nice distraction!

You've got the first week in the bag?!?!

Keener.
nonamedufus said…
Yeah but now I'm really stuck on what to do with the 2nd week's themes. My god.

OOH, OOH, I want to play. I'm sorry and inconsistent as a blogger, so maybe I can shine as a photographer. Yeah, probably not.
nonamedufus said…
Hey, the more the merrier. Or as I like to say "misery loves company."

Now that I recall I did that the last time. So I'll really be tested this time around.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
