30 Days of Photos - #13 - Pleasure

Welcome to 30 Days of Photos, where 18 bloggers are participating in posting a photo a day for 30 days. Here are the other 17 you can visit after you've been here:

There are many things in life that give me pleasure. #1 of course is my wife. Life with her is a dream. And I'm not sharing my dreams, just so you know. I love golf, as many of you know, music, books and classic TV series on DVD.

When I was in Panama last month we went out to dinner at a Japanese restaurant at the Bijao Hilton Hotel. The kind of restaurant where they cook what you order right in front of you. It's called teppanyaki cuisine and it makes for a fun night out.

This was dessert. A Petit Gateau Chocolate and Ice Cream.

It really was the epitome of pleasure on a plate.

That ice cream has that 'come hither' look about it that's clearly affecting the Petit Gateau Chocolate in ways no chef ever intended.

It was delicious. It was the perfect finish to my shrimp, crab and calamari trio main course.

Eating at a teppanyaki grill is a true pleasure, but that dessert has me drooling. I love dessert and think it should be eaten first just to make sure that you have room for it. I would eat dessert before steak, lobster or any other entree...except maybe hard shell crabs - they are my downfall.

I love the skill the Japanese have with presentation! I think food should not only taste good, it should look good too!

Oh, I love that you said your "wife". Nothing is better than when someone is with the person they were meant to be with. I have that in my life as well and am super appreciative of it.

Fancy presentation on the dessert.

I think I might be forming cataracts... cuz... well... no offense... but at first glance I thought that was a glob of chicken liver and olio on the other end!

HA!

Kidding!

Nice pic Dufus, very nice. Now you got me salivatin'!

Yeah, it was a lot of fun. They toss your food in the air and do all kinds of funny things. It's like dinner and a floor show.
nonamedufus said…
It certainly was...but not just the dessert; the whole meal.

The presentation was amazing. It was almost too good to eat. But I did. Here's a pic of our chef...

She's #1 for sure. What else am I going to say? She reads this.
nonamedufus said…
Blech! I'm starting to worry about you, Quirks. Above the plate is the grill the guy use to cook our dinner. We had a great view. And look what he did with the rice... He turned it into a fish!
Personally I think the presentation could be improved by an even longer and thinner dish, but hey, I'm not complaining.

Oh, wonderful, wonderful chocolate.... I can't believe you don't have enough for everyone, I would have really wanted a taste.
nonamedufus said…
They have longer dishes. But I wasn't able to pronounce them.
nonamedufus said…
Hey, listen, there wasn't even enough chocolate for me. I could have eaten much more. But they didn't have a king-size plate so I had to make do with this. It was delicious.

That's looks really good, NoName. I would've ordered five or six plates, of course.

Oh, and nice shout-out to your wife. You've probably almost made up for revealing her age the other day.
nonamedufus said…
Shh!. Don't remind her. Geez.
Mike said…
Ah, excellent little amuse guele or however it's spelled. The kind of thing you eat slow, or else you have to order another one.
nonamedufus said…
C'mon, Mike, anyone with access to Google knows "amuse gueule" is an appetizer. This was a dessert. But you're right about the need for more.
Is that blood on the plate? Creepy. ;)

That looks so good. If I knew there was going to be so much food I would have eaten before I started reading!
That indeed looks amazing. Add the rest of the food and it is BEYOND pleasure, I'm sure!
Nice. But I'll take Ziva's pleasure in this case. (That sounds different in words than it did in my head.)

Pleasure on a plate, huh? Sounds like fun! That caloric goody in the photo looks yummy too!
Ziva said…
Hah, you're a funny man, my dear.
Nora Blithe said…
What? No peas?! :) That looks absolutely heavenly!
nonamedufus said…
Oh, you're a bad girl, aren't you.
nonamedufus said…
No it's a raspberry sauce. Yum.
nonamedufus said…
Oh you would have been able to save room for this.
nonamedufus said…
It was a great meal. And a fun night for us.
nonamedufus said…
My dear - MeiDere. I see what you did there, Ziva. Aren't you a clever girl.
nonamedufus said…
We know all about what's going on in your head. What will Avril say?
nonamedufus said…
Today's theme was pleasure, not torture.

I am. I admit it. It's one of the few pleasure I have left. :)

Sunday Funnies

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
