Uh.... does Maryse know you left the saw on the dining room table next to the good dishes and the candelabra?
nonamedufus said…
It's actually the work bench in the basement where we store everything from old dishes to candle sticks.
nonamedufus said…
And old. I've had that for close to 40 years. Back when they invented electricity.

It's good to have my questions answered before I have to ask them. (Thanks Paula & Dufus.)

So glad you posted this shot because it gives me an opportunity to be nosy. What do you create using your power tools?
Paula Wooters said…
And here I was thinking it was my little ax that had roughed up your dining room table.
nonamedufus said…
Oh, no. My workbench is actually an old door.
nonamedufus said…
Not much. Haven't used it in years...my power tools.

Neither has Rick. For a couple of years after we first moved into this house, he did some remodeling work. Nothing fancy but necessary for our sanity.

looking sharp. i thought about going to sears to photograph something that says craftsman, but darn the time.

I've had this saw for ages. It's seen a lot of wood...and finger tips!
nonamedufus said…
I'm getting on. I just can't do the stuff I used to.

Excellent idea! The table looks like a potential juggling act - saw, candlestick, dishes...

What a GREAT photo!!
Ziva said…
Oh my, what a big saw you have, dufus.
nonamedufus said…
It's a work bench. Should be called a storage bench. It seems to collect all the things we don't use.
nonamedufus said…
It's a good thing it's a close up. A wider view would have shown you how messy I am.
nonamedufus said…
You know what they say about a man with a big saw...
Ziva said…
He only has nine fingers?
nonamedufus said…
No, they say "look at that man with a big saw". What did you think they'd say.
Linda Medrano said…
I have no idea what that is, but it's a great photo of a thing I don't recognize. Nicely done, Dufus!
nonamedufus said…
I guess anything that's not a pair of pumps is kinda foreign to you, eh, Linda? It's an electric circular saw made by Craftsman.
Jamie Baker said…
I've messed up many a cut with a saw just like that.
nonamedufus said…
Measure twice cut once. right?

Nice shot. Is it something use use regularly? Not like in Chain Saw Massacre or anything. Personally, I like to stay away from sharp things with motors.
nonamedufus said…
Actually, i haven't used it in years. I'm surprised I remembered I still had it.

That's a craftsman all right!
nonamedufus said…
Let there be no doubt.
Perfect, perfect perfect! And I want one!

I was going to ask, "Whatcha making?" but it looks like you need to make a china cabinet so you can have your workbench free. :-)

I love the hand rotary saw. Not only is it useful, it's scary as hell. Every time I pick one up, I can't but wonder if I'm about to lose some fingers, or a hand, or take an eye out. It makes me feel alive. Nice work, NoName.
MIkeWJ said…
Sure you can. Just hire somebody to do it for you, and then boss them around. It's very gratifying, trust me.
nonamedufus said…
You can have this one. I haven't used it in years.
nonamedufus said…
Actually I think we need to have a garage sale. Or buy a larger house.

My middle finger on my right hand is shorter than my middle finger on my left. Thanks, Craftsman.

My Back Pages - November

I know, I know, I know I should have reported in before now. But sometimes real life just gets in the way. I attempted 5 books in November. I say attempted because I slapped a big DNF (did not finish) on Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon. I just can't seem to get into this guy. It's the second or third of his I've given up on, Not so the other four, starting with a biography of Stephen Stills called Change Partners. This followed by a hilarious biography of the guy responsible for National Lampoon called A Stupid and Futile Gesture - How Doug Kenney and National Lampoon Changed Comedy Forever. I ended the month reading yet another biography, this one of the man behind Rolling Stone magazine,. It was called Sticky Fingers: The Life and Times of Jann Wenner and Rolling Stone Magazine. A fascinating read. So last month I hit the magic number 50 I'd imagined for myself back in January. If I roll this month into my yearly total I'm at 54 books. And I still hav...

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy! ...
