Pause Ponder and Paraphilia

Okay so this was our pic this week. A little odd, no? You think the pic is odd. You should see some of the captions! Sheila's family was against the wedding but it was her bear to cross. Shawn Thank gawd last night was not a 3 dog night. Cheryl It was the very next morning that Judy decided "no more tequila." moooooog But my favourite this week hit close to home... Maryse says Dufus is a total bear in the morning. Paula "Boom Boom" Wooters Way to go Boom Boom. That caption had me guffawing. You don't know how close to the truth you are. So this week you be hangin' with dufus. Congratulations, woman. What shall we do? We don't have a zoo nearby so we can't watch bears. Which is probably just as well. Bears can get pretty horny I hear and I don't think I could bear to watch. (See what I did there?) Thanks to everyone who left a caption this week. I appreciate you playing along.

Excuses, Excuses

"Sorry, noname, but I tried really, really hard." What's this? The guy with an award for the best 2012 draft in the Humor Bloggers Fantasy Footbal League LOSES in Week 1? What's this? The guy with Green Bay's Aaron Rogers, the top ranked QB in the NFL (open for discussion), and who may have lost his game Sunday but nevertheless gave me 30 fantasy points LOSES in Week 1? Well, um, yeah. Those questions were kind of rhetorical, eh? I maintain it's Unfinished Person's fault. You see, Yahoo Sports got rid of their chat feature. So five of us followed UP around half the day Sunday from one chat room to another, downloading AIM-AOL chat (which didn't work), group chatting on Facebook, then at half time downloading and chatting on Yahoo Messenger. This whole incident of trying to find each other in various chat rooms was almost as entertaining as watching the football games. Well, it would have been if I'd been watching football games...

I'm not even gonna go there. But you can. And then come back Saturday to see how you made out. (pun intended)

Pause Ponder and Deaf As a Post

Did no one notice this guy hasn't got ears? No I guess not. And I think many of our regulars were "stumped" this week. But we did have a couple of submissions. Let's see what they were... Is that "Mr. Hanky, from South Park? Damn he's aged! Skeeter It's the unofficial mascot of the 2012 Quebec provincial election. Why? I don't know. Mike But the quip that got me going was... Jim Henson's early concept, "Kermit the Log". Shawn Way to go Shawn. You be hangin' with dufus this week. It's too bad the Republican convention has come and gone. We could have put that guy in Clint's empty chair and made someone's day.

Taking this guy for a walk can be a real drag. Like you can do better? Show me! See you Saturday.

Some Thoughts I've Laboured With

Today is all about workers. It's the day we celebrate their economic and social contribution to society. In other words it salutes megalomaniacs because it's all about us, isn't it! It's also the day after which one does not wear white. Unless one is Canadian and visits Florida in January to go golfing. Why do we celebrate American or Canadian workers today when almost everything we buy is made by some guy in China? In Canada, we spell labor l-a-b-o-u-r. That's because we're big on sheep here. In America, there's no ewe in labor. (That's a pun.) Some of us celebrate the long labor day weekend with BBQs, burgers and beer. The rest of us just skip right to the beer and then labor to get up Tuesday morning. It is not the celebration of pregnant women about to give birth. Although, it could be. And it is not the celebration of dull, tedious sex. After all, who would celebrate that.

Pause Ponder and Paperback Rider

We didn't get much reaction to this week's pic. I suspect many folks are enjoying the last days of summer and probably missed our paperback riders, here. Too bad. I liked this pic. Gives new meaning to the term bookmarks, don't you think? Well let's see what our participants this week DID think, shall we? All 2 of them. I'm glad the Erector set I had as a kid wasn't like this new age set! Skeeter  This lovely self-assembly bookcase comes with sturdy built-in bookends. Ziva Special care instructions: Never use feather dusters! Skeeter Our winner this week had all the angles covered (unlike our friends in the photo) and almost all the captions. I wanted the new furniture made from pussywillow, my wife insisted on hard wood. Skeeter Okay, there, Skeeter you win. Of course with 3 of the 4 entries this week your chances were pretty good. Nevertheless, congratulations guy. You're hangin' with dufus again. I thi...

Things That Annoy Me

You know you can tell you have too much time on your hands when you start thinking of things that bother you. Yeah, I've got nothing but time. And indigestion, but that's another story. I thought I'd introduce this as an once-in-a-while feature here. I kinda got the idea from Janna@ Jannaverse - you know, the funniest lady on the interwebs. Yeah, funny in a guffaw way. How guffaw? I dunno. Minnesota or Minneapolis or one of those M places. Pretty guffaw. Anyway, she's always making lists. Funny lists. She likes music too. But she doesn't make musical lists. If she did, those would be funny Liszts . So here we go. My first crack at things that annoy me. 1. Peas (c'mon, you had to have seen that coming. Like you don't know me by now? They've gotta be right up there with turnips and stewed prunes, strong candidates for future lists of things that annoy me.) 2. People who refuse to yield on the sidewalk or grocery aisle. I mean really folks, w...

Pause Ponder and Pun #140

What the...? I've heard of 50 Shades of Grey, but this? This sure puts a fine point on the dewey decimal system. Over to you guys. And no dicking around. See you Saturday.

Is That Why They Call It The Rumpus Room?

Okay this isn't funny. But it could be. Three workers at a Deleware Daycare in Dover were recently arrested for holding their own little fight club. And by little I mean toddlers. Yeah, that's right they were coaching some baby boxers. Can you imagine a bunch of little guys barely old enough to walk and still in diapers being egged on to duke it out? Rumour has it one of them was named Dyler Turden. Ew. Messy. "Okay, I knocked him down. Now will you change my damn diaper?"  Three employees of Hands of Our Future Daycare (I'm not kidding you, that's what it's called) were arrested after a cellphone video got out in which a three year-old can be heard crying and yelling "He's pinching me." The caregiver, while pushing him back up against his pint-sized pugilist opponent can be heard saying "No pinching, only punching." The daycare has had its license suspended pending a hearing. Serves them right. Everybody knows rule...
