30 Minus 2 Days of Insanity

It's that time again. My brother Steve's birthday? Yeah, that too. Happy Birthday Happy Wanderer.  Meanwhile, February is almost upon us and that means another round of 30 Minus 2 Days of Writing - or as some would call it "Pass the Vodka" - as coordinated by the lovely and talented Montreal blogger extraordinaire Nicky Eff. I think the equally talented but not nearly as lovely Cheesy Mike may have a role in this too. They both are the well-known and much-loved proprietors of We Work For Cheese. Although, coming back with another round of this writing exercise they are really starting to push their luck.

What do they have in store for us this time around?

1. Gouda
2. It was no accident
3. Temporary insanity
4. When Hell freezes over
5. The empty bottle
6. Scatterbrained
7. Hint, hint
8. Damn
9. Dylan
10. Zombies
11. Succubus
12. One bite
13. Incommunicado
14. It has to be aliens
15. My ears are ringing
16. Shakespearean English
17. I faked it
18. Liars
19. Tastes like chicken
20. Chaos
21. Yes, I made that
22. It’s only a dream
23. There are things
24. And then she said
25. Social media
26. Naked and lost
27. How did you find out?
28. And then my brain exploded

That empty bottle in prompt 5 doesn't appear soon enough for my liking, nor does prompt 28. These prompts will be quite the challenge for many of us participating. The upside is I usually post about two items a week on my blog. If I write every day for 28 days, that'll take me well into 2015 without writing another word.

Like a lamb being led to the slaughter I have blindly accepted the challenge posed by Nicky and Mike. But this year is going to be different. I'm going to do something with this challenge I've never done before. What do I mean by that? You'll have to come back February 1st to find out.

Be there or be square.

I imagine "God" will be one of the expletives I use early on and from there it will use go downhill.

Ooooh now I'm very curious as to what you are going to do. And it was all CheesyMike's fault, btw. I had nithing to do with it.

Well some of the prompts are pretty cheesy but somehow I don't think they're Mike's fault. Oh, and as to what I'm going to do? I'm going to write in the nude. You're probably very thankful this isn't 30 days of photos, eh?

On February 29th, the theme is "Stubborn Fool".

I would hate to see those exposures.

I may take the blame for 1, maybe 2, and POSSIBLY 3 of the prompts, but this whole sick, sick, exercise is all CheesyNicky's idea. And it's her fault.
Wow! What a tease you are, Dufus! To leave us hanging like that without telling us what your master plan is? Outrageous!

Not much longer to wait, Paula. Then all shall be revealed.

Um, Shawn, there is no February 29th this year.

I knew it! (Which ones can I blame you for Mike?)

You're just being negative, Shawn.

My Back Pages - November

I know, I know, I know I should have reported in before now. But sometimes real life just gets in the way. I attempted 5 books in November. I say attempted because I slapped a big DNF (did not finish) on Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon. I just can't seem to get into this guy. It's the second or third of his I've given up on, Not so the other four, starting with a biography of Stephen Stills called Change Partners. This followed by a hilarious biography of the guy responsible for National Lampoon called A Stupid and Futile Gesture - How Doug Kenney and National Lampoon Changed Comedy Forever. I ended the month reading yet another biography, this one of the man behind Rolling Stone magazine,. It was called Sticky Fingers: The Life and Times of Jann Wenner and Rolling Stone Magazine. A fascinating read. So last month I hit the magic number 50 I'd imagined for myself back in January. If I roll this month into my yearly total I'm at 54 books. And I still hav...

30 Days of Writing - Day #1 - Cheese

Well, here we go again folks. As if it weren't enough that I knocked myself out in April participating in 30 Days of Photos, now dear Nicky and Mike over at We Work For Cheese have corralled a bunch of us suckers into a 30 Days of Writing exercise. Yeah, I know. I must have stupid written backwards on my forehead. I don't know how they figured it out. They would have had to look in my mirror to realize it. Anyhoo, the first day's theme is - surprise, surprise - cheese.  And here are the internet imbeciles Nicky and Mike managed to sucker into to this little exercise:  Well, first off there's me! Once you've read my post you can visit:  Mike and Nicky ,   Cheryl ,   If I Were God ,   Katherine ,   Laughing Mom ,   Linda M ,   Malisa ,   MikeWJ ,   Sandra , Leeuna  and Still Unfinished . Okay, who cut the cheese? Well growing up in my house it was usually my mother. She prepared and served the food and the knife ...
