30DW2-2 - Day 4: Friendship

To My Best Friend

She's a lover and a wife
And she's my friend for life
She makes me laugh, she makes me smile
She keeps me happy all the while

And when I'm sick she tends to me
And makes me well for all to see
And when I'm sad she cheers me up
And lets me sip from her loving cup

Sometimes I'm in a bit of a funk
And I might get a little drunk
But she just laughs and holds my hand
And reminds me that our life is grand

What have I done to deserve such love?
Was she sent to me from heaven above?
Just what the heck does she see in me?
Man, I'm as lucky as can be

I can't help but love her too
There's nothing else for me to do
Our love is genuine, our love is pure
And I know our friendship will endure.

Sigh, pass the Kleenex and after you've dried your eyes trot on over to Nicky and Mike's and follow the links to see who's doing what to whom today.

Dufus, you are a romantic, well, doofus. And it's endearing, and lovely to hear. I salute you and your good lady. Indigo

Damn, good thing I bought all that Kleenex.
nonamedufus said…
Damn straight. It's like you can see into the future!

That is so sweet. She'll need the kleenex, too, when she reads this.

I wonder if Mike will sell me some.

Awwww! Dufus! This is absolutely wonderful. You're a lucky man and she's a lucky woman.

I can't help but wonder if "sip from her loving cup" is some kind of weird euphemism, though. ;)
nonamedufus said…
Nah, it's just something I came up with to make it rhyme. ;)

You're trying to get laid this month, aren't you?

Every little bit helps, my friend.

We'll see after something else I wrote appears later this week.

Aw, thanks, Meleah. I'm looking forward to her reaction.

Ah... the marvelous Maryse! I heart her, too!

Wait.. what?

Did someone take the login info from Dufus?

Holy smokes. Getting all soft and stuff. Who knew?

That being said ... very nicely done. :)
nonamedufus said…
Hey, I saw her first!
nonamedufus said…
At my age when you say "getting soft" I tend to take it personally.
P.J. said…
No worries. At your age, you'll forget I said it in 15 minutes anyway. ;)
Laughing Mom said…
Sweet...but I'm mystified at the lack of punniness.
nonamedufus said…
No puniness today. This is an affair of the heart.

"What have I done to deserve such love?"

You must have been good in a previous life, Dufus. And maybe a little bit in this one too. :-)
Shawn Ohara said…
After reading the only thing I could think of writing is, congratulations.
KZ said…
You, sir, sound like the luckiest man on the face of this earth. I think some of that good luck has rubbed off on your best friend. May your friendship endure for a long time to come.
nonamedufus said…
Actually, I pretended to like her cat. Seriously.
nonamedufus said…
Thanks. I'm a very lucky guy. I think I got the better deal in this relationship.
nonamedufus said…
Couldn't agree with you more. I'm one lucky guy.

I can be romantic when I wanna be. Imagine.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
