I Think I'm a Masochist

"You've got to be kidding? Not again?"

"Yep," said Zippity Doo-Dah Ziva and Denver Dude MikeWJ, "again...and if you don't participate we'll tell everyone about the time you..."

"I'm in, I'm in," I blurted. "Just as long as you don't tell people about the time I..."

But then you'll never know. Unless I talk in my sleep. But even then you'd have to sleep with me to find out. Hey wait a minute...

Although it could get a little crowded under the covers. Unless, of course, Ziva brought her whip for crowd control purposes.

Again? Yes, again. Not the whip. The camera. Ziva and Mike have launched 30 Days of Photos IV on an unsuspecting group of bloggers. You remember III last October? And II last April? Well, now it's time for IV, starting September 1. Don't ask about I. That's part of what you'll never know. Nope. Not from me.

Why do I do things like this? I think I enjoy self-inflcted pain. If Ziva loaned me her whip, I'd be in heaven. It'd sure beat that wet noodle I've been using. But that's a whole other story for another time.

But IV is the most challenging 30 Days of Photos yet. See for yourself. Here are the delightful prompts Denver Dude and Doo-Dah dreamed up...

1 - ice cream
2 - illuminate
3 - soft
4 - backwards
5 - mushroom
6 - 2 birds, 1 stone
7 - seven
8 - texture
9 - disguise
10 - close-up
11 - girly
12 - tremor
13 - wrong
14 - nsfw
15 - China
16 - biblical
17 - my junk
18 - always
19 - never
20 - transparent
21 - anatomy
22 - frustration
23 - Tolstoy
24 - carnival
25 - poison
26 - rising
27 - nsew
28 - lover
29 - circle
30 - happily ever after

So be sure and come back here September 1st as I dust off my iPhone camera and kick off my participation in the latest 30 Days of Photos challenge. See if I can find a photo to match each day's prompt. I have one photo taken so far. Good start, eh?

You know, normally I'd look at a list like this and say "Who the hell came up with this shit?" But I know who came up with this shit.

Doo-Dah

Denver Dude

And I know why they're smiling.

And I know where they live.

Hooray! I'm glad you'll be playing along too! :)

Are you kidding? With those prompts there won't be much playing! Look forward to seeing your pics, though, Meleah.

Doo-Dah? I'm sure there must've been something a little more flattering you could've called me, dufus. Ziva the Siren, for example. Even Jezebel would've been better than Doo-Dah. Bend over, my dear, I'm going to have to punish you for this.

I know these prompts are REALLY difficult I've been taking photos and trying to prepare for the challenge but my ideas AND photos just seem so lame.

Oh well for me this challenge is really more about getting back into a blogging routine and giving me a reason to get out of bed in the morning so I am NOT going to beat myself up or stress too much about my ideas/pictures sucking! Besides, MWJ and Ziva are CRAZY talented and who can compete with that anyway?!

Add me to the lame photographers, Meleah. And you're absolutely right about Ziva and Mike and a few others. Very talented folks.
nonamedufus said…
I was going for alliteration. More on the zip pity and less on the Doo-Dah.

I hope that last line doesn't mean you're sending MikeWJ over here. I know we have a bromance but that'd be going too far.
Ziva said…
No way, I wouldn't let MikeWJ touch my whip.
meleahrebeccah said…
Seriously!

You and I can be on the same “team” for the challenge!

:)

Sounds good to me.

YAY!

Hooray for Team Lame!
Road Trip.... you, me, my ax and my sledge hammer. Since you know where they live and all...
May I please join Team Lame? I have NO IDEA what to do for these prompts!
nonamedufus said…
Hell, you're an honourary member, Paula. And I mean that in the nicest possible way, what with your axe and all.
nonamedufus said…
I think you may have something there. Can you get those "tools" through airport security?
nonamedufus said…
Has a certain ring to it doesn't it.
That's why it has to be a road trip. Works for taking out Mike WJ, although getting to Turku is going to be a bit of a problem. Damn ocean.
nonamedufus said…
We could rent one of these...

I just might participate in this one. Maybe. On some of the days. Or at the very least I will read the list, look at it, ponder. And then go tuirn on the TV.
nonamedufus said…
Now there's a strategy I wish I'd thought of, Shawn.
I always wanted one of those!

Dear John,

I'm sorry but I can't seem to find the enthusiasm to join you and Team Lame in this challenge. Worse yet, I'm fairly certain my visits will be minimal because I can't seem to shake this case of 'blog fatigue' I've been experiencing for the last many months.

Best wishes on surviving September with your sense of humor intact.

Very truly yours,
Cheryl

You are all bat-crap crazy... I like that in a person. :) I'll drop by to pass out Xanax as often as I can.
nonamedufus said…
And they come in different colours too.
nonamedufus said…
Oh, we couldn't accept you on Team Lame, anyway. Your photos are amazing. Sorry to hear about your blog fatigue. I know the feeling. But "30 Days" helps me get out of my rut.
nonamedufus said…
Can you drop some off now, Jayne?
Great, because I only drive blue cars. (I do hope those colours include blue.)
nonamedufus said…
Um, yeah. Ocean blue.

John, I'm haven't been well for quite some time (having difficulty eating) and, not only am I not fully healed from the patella fracture, I managed to strain my lower back earlier this month. I haven't been able to drive much until recently & that's just to doctors' appointments nearby. I can't get around well enough to search for obscure things to photograph.

My focus in September has got to be on beginning to work with some specialists to get my stamina back. I can't do anything active for more than a few minutes without being completely wiped out. I wish I could join but I'm barely getting by as it is.

Gee, Cheryl, I had no idea you were in such bad shape lately. Real life's a lot more important than a photo challenge on the internet. Rest up and get well, eh. And keep me posted. I'm sending you good vibes.

Thanks John. I'll take all the good vibes you can spare.

Sunday Funnies

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
