Better Late Than Never

Remember back in February Nicky and Mike @ We Work For Cheese ran a little challenge? Yeah, sure you do. It was a writing challenge. They called it the 30M2DoW. Now let's see if I get this right: 30 Minus 2 Days of Writing. Cute, eh? Well, along the way some dropped out, some jumped in, some started great serials but left them unfinished when the challenge wrapped up. It wasn't easy coming up with a tale every day in response to that day's prompts. But in the end I think everyone had fun...if you define the term "fun" loosely.

Now, Indigo Roth a British blogger bloke, had so much fun he designed a T-shirt to commemorate the event and made it available through an outfit called Zizzle or Zazzle or something with a Zee. Well, hell, I thought, I've got to get me one of those. So I yanked out the VISA and laid my money down...in February. And I waited....a week...two weeks...a month...and then...

It arrived today! A month and a half after I ordered it. I don't know where it went on its way to me. I think it got stuck in North Korea for awhile or something. You know that Kim Jong Un's a sneaky bastard. But I guess in the end he couldn't figure the thing out, decided it wasn't a threat to national security, realized size XL was too small for him and let it go.

With apologies to Gloria Gaynor I, and the shirt, did survive!

Unfortunately my iPhone doesn't have a wide-angle lens and I snapped this quickly because a guy can hold his breath for only so long.

You look divine! As for the length of time it took to get to you, I'm pretty sure the postal services of the US and Canada are in cahoots to ensure that every damn thing that gets sent from here to there travels to Europe, Asia, and Africa before making its rounds through South America & then up to you.

Oh, Cheryl, I've been so sick. Pneumonia again. But it seems to be retreating. Feeling better. And now I've got my shirt so I'm feeling great! I've survived!

Oh man, I'm so sorry. Glad you're on the mend. I'm sure that shirt is working wonders for your mood. The geese can't hurt either. Just think, in a week or so, the robins will be heading your way too. Birds everywhere. What could be better than feeling good and being surrounded by birds?

I'd better get my sunglasses on. Gotta protect those eyes.

Handsome devil! And what an awesome design! Sorry about the wait, I blame ZIva. Roth

There was a time there that I thought I'd never get a chance to wear it. Just when I about gave up, it arrived.

It took a while. Hand stitched in the U.K. quality inspected in Finland, authenticated in Quebec before being sent to you.

So that's what happened?

Ugh. So sorry to read about the pneumonia. It's scary for folks like "us" to get super sick. Prayers and hugs!

However, I bet I know what happened to your tee.

Two words.

Dennis Rodman.

Mm huh.

Now it's beginning to make sense Lucy?

Yeah the after-effects of chemo and radiation do wonders for the immune system, right? I curse Dennis Rodman.

What fun!
It also explains why Kim Jong Un never sent back my set of steak knives.

Those Ginsu steak knives? Bastard!

Looking good there, Dufus! Sorry it took so long, though. But on to a more serious topic... when are we going to have the 30M2DoW reunion? I vote we go to Nicky's house!

How cool! I didn't hear about the t-shirts but I have a few things going on in my personal life at the time. I hate that I missed out on the shirts and the blogging but what little I participated in was a lot of fun!
nonamedufus said…
I'm all for it! Yeah!

Funny how real life gets in the way sometimes, isn't it?

You could probably still order one. It's never too late to join our cool little club!

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy! ...

I Am Charlie, I'm A Bore

Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, Colin Farrel...you know the list, it goes on and on. The list of Hollywood hick-ups who not content to meltdown behind closed doors have to drag each and every detail out into the light of day and share it with all of us. Well, add Charlie Sheen to that luckless and lascivious list of losers. In the past few days he's been on every major media soapbox complaining abut how he's been treated and how he's misunderstood. Last night he spent an hour on ABC's 20/20 "in his own words". Charlie, you should have stuck to the script. "I have a highly evolved brain". You know I never did like that song by Helen Reddy in the 70s "I Am Woman". But I have to say the melody really leant itself well to a parody of Hollywood's latest flame-out, Charlie Sheen. Although I never thought I'd hear myself say this, my sincerest apologies to Helen Reddy. And now if you're ready (a little play on wor...
