Photo Challenge - June

Ol' P.J. tested our creative abilities in June with the prompt "vehicles". Nevertheless I think I've risen to the challenge (pun intended) with this collection of photos.

This is Big Red, used every week to deal with our acre of grass (the kind you cut).

I took this shot coming off the local Highway 50 at the Des Allumitieres exit. Can you tell it's rush hour?

This little vehicle carts my son and I around the golf course every week. It was a great day for a round last Thursday.

This old relic is at the entrance to the Gatineau Golf Course. There were three of us playing last week. I though they might rent us the truck so we could travel the 18 holes together.

The Beast. It's a 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander. Eight years old and it still runs like a charm.

Drive on over to P.J.'s blog where you can discover what the rest of this month's participants came up with.

LOL! The Beast?! I love it! Entrepreneur would prefer the vehicle of the golf cart variety.

I had my eye peeled, all month for a motorised lawn mower, but didn't see one!

Yea for Big Red! Makes me think of Big Red soda pop and then Bubble Gum Ice Cream. Wait. I never liked that stuff and pouring it over vanilla ice cream is pretty darn gross if you ask me. Oh, you didn't? Sigh.

Anyway, nice photos. Hooray for purring Beast!

Love the photos. My favorite is the golf cart! I haven't played in a while, I think I need to.

You just reminded me that I had a side mirror shot I meant to include in my group. I love the old truck.

Enjoyed the photos and the commentary...especially the puns! Our youngest is a big fan of puns. I especially like how you used one vehicle's side mirror to photograph a whole bunch more vehicles...nice layering. :-)

I enjoy driving them both. For different reasons of course.

I keep reading that eye peeled reference and can't help but think of your recent cataract surgery.

Just sold Big Red. We moved to a much smaller house and property and didn't need it anymore. A sad day. We had to for 14 years.

Golf has to be my favourite outdoor pastime.

Wish I could have gotten a better pic of the truck. I took it from my car but in a hurry because there was another car behind me.

Hot time, summer in the city, back of my neck getting dirt and gritty.

Those who know me well think "puns" is my middle name.

Ha ha! I still have the other eye waiting to be done. Not sure if it's a blessing living near the best eye hospital in the country. People come from all over (even the continent) for treatment here, making the waiting list very long - 16 weeks, for non urgent cataracts.

Wow that's pretty impressive. I don't know about you but I really noticed a difference after having the first eye done. I would close that eye then the other and simply be amazed.

Yes! I still do it sometimes - Just to make sure it's still the same!

I like the crooked look of the lawnmower. Though if I tilt my head, it's not so crooked. Just saying.

And shouldn't you be trading in for the golf cart to be the No. 1 vehicle at all times by now? :D

Unfortunately I'm only golfing about once a week. Have to get out more.

Sunday Funnies

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
