30DW2-2 - Day 3: And The Next Thing I Knew...

Dreams.

I rarely remember them.

I don't know why.

But more often than not I wake up and immediately forget what I was dreaming about. Maybe it's age. After all I forget things when I'm awake, too.

There are times, though, when the dreams are so vivid they stay with me. And after I've gotten up to go pee in the middle of the night I sometime try to restart a dream. Rarely with success though.

Some dreams are repetitive. Like the ones where I fly. It's kinda what I think an acid trip might be like. Not that I've ever had one. But I often dream about flying.

The other dream I often have has to do with an elevator. An elevator that never stops. And the elevator isn't choosy...it goes both up and down. But it never stops. Sometimes it keeps going down, picking up speed into some subterranean place this side of hell. Or it keeps going up, exploding through the roof of a building into the sky...up, up, up.

For some reason these dreams never conclude. They get me so scared I wake up in the middle of them before the elevator either slams into hell or drifts so high in the sky it starts to fall again. After all, what goes up must come down.

So I'll wake up, get out of bed and go pee. And these dreams I don't want to continue when I go back to bed after my middle of the night pee break. Oh, no. They're far too scary.

Good thing, too. Because if I didn't wake up and go pee, and the dream continued, the next thing I know is I'd probably wet the bed!

Fly on over to Nicky and Mike's now. The next thing you know is you'll be clicking on the links to see what the rest of those idiots are up to.

I don't remember most of my dreams either. I don't remember ever having a flying dream, although I've had the falling dream a few times. I hate those.

I have driving dreams and the rare falling dream I hate the peeing dreams. Because usually they aren't completely dreams.

I rarely remember dreams, either. That is a scary dream about the elevator going up and down but never stopping. That is one I hope never to have.

Funny thing... I haven't had many flying dreams since college. Of course, I haven't smoked much dope since college, either. I wonder if there's a connection. But I still have to get up to pee in the middle of the night. Go figure.

Elevator dreams?

I think it's representative of LIFE.

It goes up. And sometimes it goes down.

Neverending.

Well sort of.

It's neverending while you still live.

See this is why I had to stop blogging.

The brain.

Major problems! heh heh

Did you ever dream you were falling and then wake up just when you hit the mattress? Weird, huh?
nonamedufus said…
Exactly, my friend!
nonamedufus said…
Well at least you still get up to pee Boom Boom. Take it from me, it's kinda messy otherwise.

You gotta get back to the blog Quirks. You're a very funny lady and I miss my Quirky fix.

I have this recurring nightmare where I'm being forced to write something every day for a month. It's horrible.

I often remember my dreams.. Then when I tell people about them, they keep telling me I need to be committed..

I've maybe remembered 5 dreams in my whole life. Probably a good thing with my twisted mind.

Hey Dufus! I can continue dreams after peeing so long as I don't put the light on, and sit down to pee, which takes FAR less concentration. Try it! Indigo

I rarely remember my dreams either. But the elevator dream would freak me out too!

I'm so late to this particular party but I'm all caught up now. Phew!

That Sam & Dave piece was 'get up and dance' fun fun fun. I like being old enough to just barely remember this by name and then can name it in 2 notes.

Lately I've been waking up with nightmares I don't remember, but shaken not stirred to get the hell up and move away from whatever my mind was wrapped around. I think I'd half enjoy the flying/elevator dreams - the going up part.
nonamedufus said…
Yeah, those ones I don't repeat. Where the hell do dreams come from? Sometimes it's like being on drugs.
nonamedufus said…
Okay. I'll take you're word for it LL.
nonamedufus said…
Hey that's my method, too.

I have driving dreams, dreams about houses, as in living in other houses, and one flying dream that scared the crap outta me because the flying was ending in crashing. Bathrooms are also a popular dream subject. Once I dreamed I was in a stall and a pair of shoes walked past the door. Not a person - shoes. This was a long time ago and I still remember it.
nonamedufus said…
Oh, yeah, it's too scary not to wake up, believe me.
nonamedufus said…
Barely remember Sam and Dave? C'mon!
nonamedufus said…
Never had a bathroom dream. My subconscious is kinda stalled in that regard.

It sucks, too, because the bad ones are probably remembered more than good ones. Like ones where I'm rich and own the world sort of things. Man, why can't I remember those? And why can't it be true?
Damn the man. I blame it on people asking about bowel movements.
nonamedufus said…
Those people that ask about bowel movements are the worst. Late at night they'll creep up to your hospital bed, shake you awake and say' "It's time to wake up and take your sleeping pill." Gah!

I have bad dreams so rarely that I remember them forever. I had one about 40 years ago about my brother. We shared a room back in those days, and I dreamed that he suddenly sat up in bed and starting screaming like a Zombie. Do Zombies scream? Anyway, it was terrifying.
nonamedufus said…
Maybe he was dreaming about your face falling off. It could have happened.
Cheryl said…
Sorry dufus. I wasn't raised in a progressive family and I am a wee bit younger than you. I remember the music once I hear it but can never remember the artists.
The elevator is obviously something from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. If you hold on.. keep dreaming... you just may get an everlasting gobstopper!
nonamedufus said…
I dunno. That doesn't sound good, Katherine.
nonamedufus said…
Okay. I'll let it go...this time.
KZ said…
Those repetitive dreams are a trip. They clearly mean something, because otherwise, your subconscious wouldn't bother rehashing the same series of actions and thoughts. The repetitive dream that plagues me the most is not being able to speak when I have something really important to say.
nonamedufus said…
Yeah, maybe I can force my subconscious to avoid the elevator and take the stairs next time.
nonamedufus said…
And I always seem to wake up just at the right time...before it crashes through the roof going up or slams into the ground going down.
meleahrebeccah said…
That would make me wake up in a full blown panic attack!
nonamedufus said…
I know, eh. Sometimes I have to change the sheets.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D
