30DW2-2 - Day 26: Deal With It



Okay, the younger and more with it (do they still say that?) among you may know that "deal with it" is an internet meme. Or I should say "was" an internet meme from a few years back.

The expression itself is not very polite but a curt response to someone who questions a certain activity in which he or she is being forced to participate. The expression, coupled with a gif (look it up) of dropping sunglasses (hell, I don't know why) became the most popular meme on the internet around 2010.

Now, I must have been doing my Rip Van Winkle thing because I seem to have missed this entirely. Heck, I've only just clued in to gangnam style only to learn it's been superseded by something called the Harlem Shake.


I don't know about you, but I've been doing part of that dance for years. Had three children doing it. Everything old is new again!

Let' s Make A Deal With It - they're changing the name of Wayne Brady's show because Monty Hall isn't happy (OMG he's still alive. Wikipedia says he's 91!)

Feel With It - close your eyes and stick your hand out. Trust me.

Heal With It - one of the many phrases used by the Jehovah's Witnesses after they ring your doorbell.

Kneel With It - see above

Peel With It - name of a strip bar in Montreal frequented by Cheesy Mike - before the Jehovah's Witnesses ring his doorbell

Reel With It - new fishing show on the Outdoor Network

Wheel With It - new drag racing competition

Zeal With It - latest line of energy drinks

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Hello Goodbye

Today a bit of a reflective piece. Rather than being funny, this is  about the funny. It's a day of mixed emotion at nonamedufus . You see, after several months of inactivity I've dropped a couple of former blogger buddies off my blog roll. I kept hanging on and hanging on hoping they'd return to active blogging but, alas, after waiting in one case five months I've decided to let them go. I'm going to miss - going to? The Dangling Conversation

There's a debate underway in my household between my wife and I. I say "underway" because it hasn't quite reached the "raging" stage. If you want raging, my wife (a Francophone) and I (an Anglophone) from time to time (usually in a weak moment of my own making) slip into our number one discussion around why we don't speak more French at home - ergo - when am I, a former public servant who learned French at the expense of our gracious taxpayers and was technically rated bilingual (even though I hardly used it), going to improve my use of Canada's other language?
