amazing collection of dvds...and you told Meleah she needs to get out more - ha! Me thinks you spend way too much time in front of your DVD player!

It's been a while since I've watched a DVD. I still have a few I haven't seen. Saving them for a cold winter's day.

hot damn, that's a whole lotta movies!

I went through a stage a couple of years back when I watched a lot of DVDs when I was recovering from my bone marrow transplant. Now I'm more into reading books.

Holy crap, movie night at dufus' place!

True art! : ) on par with Andy Warhol.

Some of my favourite box sets are on the left. The Prisoner, The Thin Man and The Avengers.

So have you bought those DVD and trashed VHS? I copied most of them but it took tons of time!

I'm happy you recovered so well!!!!!!!!

Awesome! We have a DVD cabinet that looks a lot like that!
nonamedufus said…
Never really was into VHS. Rented them from time to time. Now I have more time on my hands.
nonamedufus said…
Well, we won't go there.
nonamedufus said…
A cabinet? These are stacked up against the wall behind a chair!

I used to watch DVD's while I was doing busy work for school. Now that I don't have the same busy work, the DVD's have been collecting dust.
nonamedufus said…
How in the world did you ever train them to clean for you? That's great!
Cheryl said…
Wow! That's a ton of DVDs. This is why I couldn't go this route. Our collection of videos is more pathetic than my video.
nonamedufus said…
Need something to do on those long, cold Canadian winter evenings.
Cheryl said…
Hahahahahahaha! This is funnier than anything I've seen today.

I sleep. I think I'm really a bear. If I could hibernate, I would.
nonamedufus said…
I like to snuggle.

whoa, you have a serious collection there.

I think you may actually have more videos than I do, NoName, and that's saying a lot. I don't know about you, but I almost never watch them more than once. That seems dumb, but there you have it.
nonamedufus said…
Actually some are serious. Others are comedies.
nonamedufus said…
Same with me. Pretty expensive form of entertainment if we only watch them once, eh.
MalisaHargrove said…
I see some of my favorites in there. We all need to have a video swap. V-I-D-E-O swap, Dufus. Gee!
Danielle Batog said…
Wow....we don't even have one in this house....we are Red Box all the way...although there might be a When Harry Met Sally floating around here somewhere.
Boom Boom Larew said…
They're great at collecting the dust... they're just not great at getting rid of it. Good thing I don't pay them well.
Planet of the apes! WOOT!

Once again, we're on the same page. I'm guessing I have more Disney in my collection, though.
mike said…
I'll bet you still have more albums than DVDs
Cheryl said…
That was my initial response when I read that you needed something to do on those long, cold winter nights. I'm pretty sure it's most couple's go-to position come winter.

Looks like it. Although we've got some great titles for the grandkids. The Madagascar series is a big hit. "You've got to move it, move it".
nonamedufus said…
What a great series.
nonamedufus said…
We haven't gone the download route and it's been some time since we've rented a movie. In fact, here in Canada Blockbuster's gone out of business.
nonamedufus said…
Let's do it. We could be the Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice of DVD sharing.
nonamedufus said…
So you're not saying you really clean up with your video collection then?
nonamedufus said…
Snuggle's good. Not the blanket. The real thing.
nonamedufus said…
Oh, yes, and even more CDs.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D

My Back Pages - November

I know, I know, I know I should have reported in before now. But sometimes real life just gets in the way. I attempted 5 books in November. I say attempted because I slapped a big DNF (did not finish) on Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon. I just can't seem to get into this guy. It's the second or third of his I've given up on, Not so the other four, starting with a biography of Stephen Stills called Change Partners. This followed by a hilarious biography of the guy responsible for National Lampoon called A Stupid and Futile Gesture - How Doug Kenney and National Lampoon Changed Comedy Forever. I ended the month reading yet another biography, this one of the man behind Rolling Stone magazine,. It was called Sticky Fingers: The Life and Times of Jann Wenner and Rolling Stone Magazine. A fascinating read. So last month I hit the magic number 50 I'd imagined for myself back in January. If I roll this month into my yearly total I'm at 54 books. And I still hav
