Pause Ponder and Picking a Place to Park

Welcome to another week of our Mickey Mouse little caption contest, where once a week those who participate enter the magical kingdom of captioning. And it's where I get the chance to wade through all your goofy submissions. So let's see what we've got going this week.

I don't know if this is Main Street U.S.A. but this guy sure took a wrong turn on Autopia.

Let's see what you guys came up with for this...

A metaphor for Rick Perry's campaign

to which 00dozo responded:

I assume the train is reserved for Cain?

Another woman tries to parallel park

Honey, I told you that woman on your GPS was nothing but trouble.

Drum roll please... This week's witty winner is...

OnStar. How may I help you?

Way to go Shawn. You be hang in' with dufus. We'll see you in Anaheim. And we'll see everybody else next Wednesday when we run a pic submitted by Malisa from Pent-up Photos. She has some great pics on her blog. You should check it out!

Much appreciated!! But, next time? Ask me before you use a picture of my car.
nonamedufus said…
Okay, if it makes you happy.

Chello06, you may be unclear on the concept. You see the idea is to comment on the picture, not the title.

Yeah, nice goin' Shawn. I guess parking in Montreal's a whole other experience, eh?

All snort worthy captions! *snort*
nonamedufus said…
Ha! I snort in your general direction!
Malisa said…
Oh, darn, I forgot to play this week! Great captions though. Congrats to the winners!
nonamedufus said…
Yeah, where were you? Don't forget to play next week. It'll be one of your pics!

Congrats, Shawn! Have fun at Disneyland and, if you've never been before (and for the sake of your own sanity), avoid the ride consisting of small gondolas and an exorbitant amount of singing dolls. They put "Chucky" to shame and they don't even need a knife.

And, congrats to the honourables!

Thanks for the shout-out, dufus! Funny, until I read it today I didn't realize it rhymed.

You've been to Disneyland, 00dozo? It's a small world after all.
Shawn said…
Since I am closer to the right coast I will be heading to Disney World®. Is there any place where there isn't singing? Maybe at the Crystal Palace.

You've gotta go to Jelly Rolls a bar where they have duelling piano players. You'll have a great time. The beer helps.
00dozo said…
That, and you can always get up and leave if the dueling piano players break into a rendition of "that song", whereas in "that ride", you cannot.

No singing in Disney World (or Disneyland, for that matter)? Ha! Good luck! And if you are bringing young kids with you, man, you are so screwed. (Jest kiddin'.)

I got an honorable mention! And in such stellar comedic company, too. Congrats, Shawn.
Jayne said…
That's why you're a genius Dbl O.
nonamedufus said…
Yeah, and the first honourable mention. Well done.
nonamedufus said…
I didn't know 00dozo was one of the gentiles.
nonamedufus said…
But you won't get up and leave. It's the beer.
00dozo said…
I'll always be gentle with you, dufus.

;-)
00dozo said…
Thanks, Jayne! But, as always, you inspired me.

What was the genesis of that comment?
00dozo said…
Really? You had to "put lips" to it? Gah! I'm probably going to have nightmares now.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D

My Back Pages - November

I know, I know, I know I should have reported in before now. But sometimes real life just gets in the way. I attempted 5 books in November. I say attempted because I slapped a big DNF (did not finish) on Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon. I just can't seem to get into this guy. It's the second or third of his I've given up on, Not so the other four, starting with a biography of Stephen Stills called Change Partners. This followed by a hilarious biography of the guy responsible for National Lampoon called A Stupid and Futile Gesture - How Doug Kenney and National Lampoon Changed Comedy Forever. I ended the month reading yet another biography, this one of the man behind Rolling Stone magazine,. It was called Sticky Fingers: The Life and Times of Jann Wenner and Rolling Stone Magazine. A fascinating read. So last month I hit the magic number 50 I'd imagined for myself back in January. If I roll this month into my yearly total I'm at 54 books. And I still hav
