Pause Ponder and Puny Paramilitary Rodent Hunters

You know I marvel week after week how I just throw up some old picture and you guys come up with these terrific captions. Man, you guys are warped. How warped? Well, let's see:

The darker side of the "Toy Story" franchise.

They finally released photos of the leader of the "tail-i-ban" Usama bin Squirrel-in!

Whitey and Dufus refute the idea they are city boys by bringing down their first kill.

Covert Mission: Operation Roadkill
Rocky AKA Squirrel, status: Killed
Next target: Alvin AKA The Chipmunk...

GI Joe is calling out:

Alvin...ALVIN...AAAALLLVVVIIINNN

But damn if Madge didn't have me bustin' a gut with:

The last time I bagged a rodent like this I had to buy it drinks first.

Way to go Madge. You be hangin' with the dufus! Wanna grab a drink or sumpin'? You're buyin'. Ha, ha. Congrats to everyone and thanks for playing.

#1 Fan: Oh, I know. Don't worry about the captions. As long as you keep droppin' by...that's the important thing.

And contrats to the honourables.

@Quirks: No worries. I'm sure you'll be gassing up for a great caption sooner or later (just remind me to bring a match).

Dang I be late today. Just watching the Kentucky Derby. I'd like to see "Pants On Fire" win, but I also like "Mucho Macho Man". (It's all in the name, ya know).

I would like to thank the Blogcadamy, for the honor of being able to comment on funny pictures. We all deserve to win.... Mooooog, Skeeter, Nicky, Cheryl, great comments, and the ones who weren't mentioned, still good.

Hey Dufus! I'm pouring one for the homies right now.

Also if you haven't hit the TB Kickstarter, you can do it here, I'm making buttons with linky coding for donations over $10 pass it around.

Thanks Dufus :)

So....When are you going to get disqus?

Alas, my horse(s) didn't come in. So much for the name thing.

As for the Christmas lights, I'd just unplug them. Really, who's going to notice? It'll save you the trip up the ladder (and possibly one to the E.R.) next winter.

My Back Pages - November

I know, I know, I know I should have reported in before now. But sometimes real life just gets in the way. I attempted 5 books in November. I say attempted because I slapped a big DNF (did not finish) on Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon. I just can't seem to get into this guy. It's the second or third of his I've given up on, Not so the other four, starting with a biography of Stephen Stills called Change Partners. This followed by a hilarious biography of the guy responsible for National Lampoon called A Stupid and Futile Gesture - How Doug Kenney and National Lampoon Changed Comedy Forever. I ended the month reading yet another biography, this one of the man behind Rolling Stone magazine,. It was called Sticky Fingers: The Life and Times of Jann Wenner and Rolling Stone Magazine. A fascinating read. So last month I hit the magic number 50 I'd imagined for myself back in January. If I roll this month into my yearly total I'm at 54 books. And I still hav...

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy! ...
