30 Days of Photos - Day 4 - Backwards

This is a picture of my SUV going backwards.  The time was about 8:30pm. The place was my driveway.

I had Mrs D put her foot on the brake and shift it into reverse.

She did exactly as I said.

Good thing.

She had an excellent opportunity.

Get yourself in gear and drive on over to Miss Ziva's for the rest of today's photos.

You are a trusting man. You must have been a good boy that day.
nonamedufus said…
Yeah, I'd paid for dinner.
Debra She Who Seeks said…
Yeah, no jury woulda convicted her!

Good thing you didn't make her angry right before asking her participation. Very clever picture to fit the prompt.

That is the very definition of Backwards. Glad you survived.

Nice shot. It could have been so different ;)
nonamedufus said…
Hey, wait a minute, there. You wanna back-up and try that comment again?
nonamedufus said…
I would never make her angry...on purpose.
nonamedufus said…
It's the first thing that came to mind. I just needed an accomplice - I could trust - to pull it off.
nonamedufus said…
It could have been. Alas, I'm still here to finish out this damn photo competition.
Ziva said…
My goodness, dufus, you are one very brave man. And you must not have very good life insurance..
nonamedufus said…
I'm just a trusting soul, Ziva. But tell me, how does one remove tire tracks from one's legs?
Ziva said…
I have no idea, I'm usually the one behind the wheel, not the one suffering from tire tracks. Rug burns, though...
ReformingGeek said…
I'm so glad you didn't instruct Mrs. D to "put the pedal to the medal!"

Wait. Are you sure that's not the mother ship landing?
nonamedufus said…
It is an interesting shot, isn't it, what with that steamy effect and all. Kinda like Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
nonamedufus said…
Oh, and you're an expert in rug burns now?
Nicky said…
Yeah, I would never have trusted Jepeto with something like that. He would have thought it was his birthday and Christmas all rolled into one. Or rolled over one. Whichever.

Great idea for this prompt! Well done, my friend!
Ziva said…
Of course. ;)

You are a very trusting man my friend. Very. Mrs. D must really love you or she would have already collected the life insurance. I'm running your license plates right now. :)
nonamedufus said…
Aw, that's sad. I have to have a talk with that guy.
nonamedufus said…
Not too lame, eh?
nonamedufus said…
Yes, she loves me very much. And as a result, me her. And I'm still here to attest to it!
Traci Shannon said…
You are braver than I. I considered this as an option but I decided AGAINST asking hubby.
Well done!

This thread kinda got me hawt

I like it. It looks angry. I might have been angry, actually.
Jackal said…
Love it. I thought about doing this...
The Divine Mrs. D is way too refined to run you over... it would get gunk all over the car.
nonamedufus said…
What? We were only talking about burned carpets weren't we?
nonamedufus said…
I took 3 quick pictures and then shut things down before she had a chance to think more about such an opportunity.
nonamedufus said…
Well. I'd have been angry if she actually backed up.
nonamedufus said…
Thanks, Jackal. A little different. But then that's how I roll.
nonamedufus said…
True. True. It would have and we couldn't have that. She'd have to be the one to clean it up.
That woman suffers so... I pity her.
That is a FANTASTIC IDEA!!!!! You are very lucky you lived to tell about it!
Shawn Ohara said…
I had a similar thought, but I backed out.
nonamedufus said…
Lucky is my middle name.
nonamedufus said…
I would have gotten my back up if you had followed through.
Lauren said…
I'm glad you survived the shot. Great take on the prompt.
mike said…
Possibly THE most dangerous shot of the day. Good idea too.
nonamedufus said…
By now in this competition I kinda wish she had have backed over me.
nonamedufus said…
Well, it just shows you the lengths I'll go for my art, Mike.

Maryse wouldn't run you down going backwards! She'd be sure to be in Drive and floor it!

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy! ...

Hello Goodbye

Today a bit of a reflective piece. Rather than being funny, this is  about the funny. It's a day of mixed emotion at nonamedufus . You see, after several months of inactivity I've dropped a couple of former blogger buddies off my blog roll. I kept hanging on and hanging on hoping they'd return to active blogging but, alas, after waiting in one case five months I've decided to let them go. I'm going to miss - going to? I have been missing - Margo at the Screaming Me-Me . She was one funny lady. From time to time she and I would engage in a feud or two for several days at a time but it was all in fun both for us and, I think, for our readers. And we'd leave each other funny comments, poking fun at each other. I miss her friendship and our humorous exchanges. The other blogger I'm letting go is Chelle, The Offended Blogger . Chelle was a special lady. In addition to her own blog she created and managed Humor Bloggers Dot Com where humour bloggers like m...

The Dangling Conversation

There's a debate underway in my household between my wife and I. I say "underway" because it hasn't quite reached the "raging" stage. If you want raging, my wife (a Francophone) and I (an Anglophone) from time to time (usually in a weak moment of my own making) slip into our number one discussion around why we don't speak more French at home - ergo - when am I, a former public servant who learned French at the expense of our gracious taxpayers and was technically rated bilingual (even though I hardly used it), going to improve my use of Canada's other language? This one never gets resolved, hence it's ongoing nature. But the current debate is over a remark I casually made the other day. I'm no geek, but with a lot of time on my hands I surf the web, converse on Facebook and such and - I have to admit - "I'm nonamedufus and I'm a Twitterholic". In an epiphany-like moment I was struck by the apparent impact of social networkin...
