Drink 'Till It Hurts

In an episode that can best be described as "cheeky" two buddies from Melbourne Australia are having a tough time sitting down this week.

I think these two are wanna-be Darwin Society members.  Seems the two got to slugging back a few silly pops last week and at a certain point stupidity overtook reason.

Geez, when my brothers and I get together, somewhat infrequently, we just tell jokes when we drink.  And the more we drink, the funnier the jokes get.  Or so it seems.  Not that we can remember them the next day, mind you.

But these two from down under will remember their antics with their, ahem, down unders for some time to come.

Seems these two beer besotted blokes thought it might be interesting to see what would happen if they shot each other in the buttocks with a BB gun.  They wanted to know if it would hurt.

Well they proved their theory and apart from a bit of pain each thought they were fine.  Yeah, beer can have that affect on you.  Remind me not to take an air rifle with me next time I go out for a drink.

Turns out that two days after their little experiment both men were admitted to the hospital where they were prepped for surgery to remove pellets from their bum cheeks and legs.

O course, now that the story has hit the international news wires imagine how these two feel.  Talk about making a complete ass of yourself!

At least Vlad only shot out the garage window with his homemade firecracker gun when he was ten! Of course, now that he's in college...

Boom-Boom: Oh, no. Has Vlad graduated to the militia?! Wait a minute. He was drinking when he was 10???!!!

The guy sitting on the right, in the picture, looks like a caricature of Robert Mitchum, and Robert Mitchum would have no doubt shot friends in the butt with an air rifle when drinking. He's just the type.

Don: Funny thing about that picture. When I looked for pis of bums all I got was porn sites. So that's why I went the "drinking buddies" route. As for Mitchum, yeah, he was quite the character both on and off the screen. Did you know he had a misc career, too? My favourite Mitchum tune is the Ballad of Thunder Road which he wrote and sang for the film Thunder Road.

Something tells me that we're missing crucial details from that story. It sounds like one of those "really, doc, I just sat down on a candle while backing up naked..." Maybe they were dueling, maybe they were into a little S & M; I'm just saying it sounds half-assed.

"They wanted to know if it would hurt."

Seriously?

They thought there was a POSSIBILITY it would NOT hurt?

I knew there was a reason why I don't imbibe!

KABLOOEY: Ah, ha,ha,ha. Yeah I guess the story isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Quirks: Hell, it took them 2 days to realize maybe they should go to the hospital. These guys aren't the sharpest knives in the cutlery drawer, obviously.

Yeah, these two are definitely a few bricks shy of a full load.

Linda: Nope, the elevator's not going to the top floor here. Thanks for the Stumble.
Me and my bro were just having fun. At least it was better than last year, when we decided to dip our male member unit thingys in hydrocholoric acid to see if it would hurt.

It did.

Last time for that prank.

Mike: You know your comment makes me think of the line "This is Darryl and this is my other brother Darryl" for some reason.

I've done some stupid things when drinking but never have I asked someone to shoot me in the bum because I didn't think it would hurt. Of course, I'm not Australian.

I prefer smoking but that's just me. or maybe not just me =D

I'll bet they'll be the butt of many jokes to come.

Jen: Oh yeah? What stupid things have you done?

I Like Kung Fu Movies: These guys were smoking. Just at the other end.

00dozo: Very good! I guess they'll go down in posterior-ity.

The Polka Dot Door

A long time ago, when I was 22, my first child was born.  That kid grew up on a little Canadian kid's show called Polka Dot Door, produced by the TV Ontario network.  And Dad, more often than not, sat through those shows with his little one. Nine or so years later when a brother, and a year after that when a sister came along number one son was moving on to Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard.  But there was a nice overlap where his siblings picked up where he had left off with Polka Dot Door.  And Dad was right there to welcome them. So you're looking at a Polka Dot Door veteran.  The show began in 1971 and ran to 1993.  I didn't watch the full run but I did get in my fair share.  The formula was pretty simple.  A young male and female host, which seemed to change every week, sang songs, told stories, made crafts and generally did their best stimulate little brains.  The show opened as follows... Imagination Day!  Oh boy!  You know what happens on Imagination D

My Back Pages - November

I know, I know, I know I should have reported in before now. But sometimes real life just gets in the way. I attempted 5 books in November. I say attempted because I slapped a big DNF (did not finish) on Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon. I just can't seem to get into this guy. It's the second or third of his I've given up on, Not so the other four, starting with a biography of Stephen Stills called Change Partners. This followed by a hilarious biography of the guy responsible for National Lampoon called A Stupid and Futile Gesture - How Doug Kenney and National Lampoon Changed Comedy Forever. I ended the month reading yet another biography, this one of the man behind Rolling Stone magazine,. It was called Sticky Fingers: The Life and Times of Jann Wenner and Rolling Stone Magazine. A fascinating read. So last month I hit the magic number 50 I'd imagined for myself back in January. If I roll this month into my yearly total I'm at 54 books. And I still hav
